Independent studio Hilltop Studios (@PlayHilltop) and publisher Versus Evil (@vs_evil) have revealed further details about their upcoming narrative-driven point and click adventure game Lil’ Guardsman (@lilguardsman) ahead of its launch in the coming months on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.

Lil' Guardsman is a narrative deduction game, inspired by the classic point-and-click genre and the mechanics of Papers, Please. Set in a high-fantasy world with the comedic sensibility of Monkey Island and other 90s Lucasarts adventure classics, Lil must make tough decisions as she decides who to allow into her castle home. Consequences can be severe, so you’ll have to make clever use of your abilities to uncover mass conspiracies and protect your castle and family from devious interlopers.

The game puts players in the role of a young girl who finds herself covering for her dad, the head castle guardsman. As she interrogates an array of fun and weird characters trying to gain entry to their city walls, you must discover each visitor’s true intentions through cunning dialogue and a clever use of her toolbox of investigative items.

This new blog post, A Visitor’s Guide to The Sprawl, offers an in-depth look at the kingdom our young heroine must protect. Home to a diverse population of humans, elves, goblins, and other species; this cobblestone cosmopolis is a hotspot for commerce and entertainment.

Any fan of the fantastical would do well to visit the Digsite, where Dr. Beatrix Von Matterhorn and her team of researchers are hard at work procuring power crystals - the key to making the Sprawl the political powerhouse it is today. Sports fans can always find a rousing time at Goblinball Stadium, home of the Sprawl Brawlers (every Thursday is riot night, so dress accordingly!). And if you’re looking for some salty sea air, questionable characters and illegal fish fights, you’d best try your hand at The Docks.

Lil' Guardsman will be available for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).
