Well the Australian Board of Classification is at it again with there harsh standards and I'm sure it comes as no surprise to the citizens but here are the details of there latest video game hack job.


Edge-Online.com reports the following: Atari has revealed to Edge more details of the amendments made to Silent Hill Homecoming for it to be granted classification in Australia.

News emerged last week that the title had been resubmitted to the Australian Board of Classification (meaning it must have made notable changes to its content), following the board’s decision to refuse the game a MA15+ rating.

At the time, a spokesperson for the Australian board said that “Atari – on its own initiative – resubmitted the game for classification, so essentially it’s not the same game.”

Atari has since explained to Edge that the amendments made to Silent Hill Homecoming will, largely, not be related to gameplay. “The major changes to the Australian release of Silent Hill Homecoming will be made to its cut scenes,” the publisher said, “where new camera angles and techniques will be used to reduce the impact of the unclassifiable material.”

Atari adds that such changes have “only been made to some scenes, while the original storyline remains unchanged.”

The Australian board continues to find friction with publishers due to its highest classification sitting below adult age, a situation which remains a constant source of embarrassment for many politicians and ministers.

Atari added that Silent Hill Homecoming will be given an R rating in the neighbouring nation of New Zealand, and it will “remain unedited.”

For a place founded for convicts they sure do have high moral standers down there.
