Coming hot on the heels of EA_Spouse's reveal.

It appears California-based companies should be on their toes for lawsuits regarding overtime compensation; after the Electronic Arts ordeal came to a financial end, more companies have found themselves in hot water. Activision now faces a suit from law firm Shapiro Haber & Urmy LLP of Boston over California Computer Graphics employees.

The Erimez v. Activision, Inc. suit alleges the publisher did not compensate Computer Graphics employees properly for working "many overtime hours to produce Activision's profitable videogames." The studio is responsible for producing modeling, texturing, lighting and animations for a number of Activision games.

As the law firm is simultaneously pursuing a similar case against Sony Computer Entertainment, websites activisionovertime.com and sonyovertime.com have been launched in order to entice employees experiencing uncompensated work to step forward and file a suit through Shapiro Haber & Urmy LLP.

Though the law suits appear to be coming at a feverous pace, the firm believes it's only attacking what employees are due. "Excessive overtime is endemic in the videogame industry, but we hope that this and other lawsuits will spur major changes in the way employers treat their employees," says firm partner Thomas Urmy.
