I posted in there about my problem, but I figured it might not be answered and it'd be better to post here.
I've been trying to figure out the XDK for a day or so now, and I'm still having trouble. Support for it isn't the easiest thing to get, as the program isn't either. I was just wondering, how to boot your xBox into "debug mode"? I'm being precautious, as I've heard incorrect bios use may cause harm to your mod.
Quote:
In order to get the Xbox to boot in Debug mode, you need to use the Phoenix BIOS Loader. I have already included a debug bios as the 2nd booting BIOS, so to start your Xbox in Debug mode, turn your Xbox on (with the modchip on offcourse), then as soon as you see something on your Monitor / TV, open your DVD Drive Tray, this will tell PBL that you want to use the 2nd BIOS, which is of course the Debug BIOS.
Does this mean I need to do anything "special" before booting my xBox and opening the tray? Sorry if this is a rather stupid question. I admit that I didn't search the forum, as I usually would, as this seemed to be the official help topic.

hi,
the best way to do it is to load the PHOENIX BIOS LOADER onto your xbox and then you can choose to boot different bioses off the hdd.
1. When you boot with your dvdrom drive open it will boot bios 1
2. When you boot with your dvdrom drive closed is will boot bios 2
You need to be running a DEBUG bios so the DEBUG dash boots as it is in a different directory and has a totally different extension to usual.
heres a tutorial SWF i wrote. Im sure it will help:

I like the x3 built in debug, I didn't have to flash another bios and it boots up the Xdklauncher.xbx and Xshell nicely.
While connected to the Lan line will it try to communicate with the SDK Home server and set my info (serial/mac/etc..) over to them? I am paranoid and I unplug the modem from the router everytime I use it. Same goes for PC setup with the VS.Net 2003 and the SDK Package, what are you admins running (stand alone) (networked) (Connected to Net)
I am just a paranoid. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Thanks for that, but I still have one problem, which maybe I didn't portray very well in my first post. I installed the PBL (w/Debug) from AID, and it wouldn't boot properly. So I reloaded the backup I had, and figured I'd ask for help.
Will any PBL support that two bios startup method (loads the default on usual startup, and the alternate bios when the tray is ejected)?
My modchip is fairly old, and I can't exactly remember which one it is. I believe there are different versions of the X2 modchip out, meaning I'd need a specific debug bios for my specific chip, right?
Sorry, I just need some clarification because trial-and-error isn't really the best method when messing with things like this.

The debug bioses doesn't have nothing to do with the modchip you're running, it depends on what version xbox you are running.
The version of PBL Metoo that is included in AID works on all versions of xbox, so that wouldn't be the problem. Since there are 2 different video chips in the Xboxes, there are 2 different debug bioses.
The Complex BIOS is used for xboxes 1.0 - 1.4 (I think 1.4)
The Gueux BIOS is used for xbox 1.4 and up
Using the wrong debug bios would only disasble the video, so for example if you had a dashboard with music etc you'd still hear it.
Also, make sure that you have the required XDK files on your Xbox (Forahobby's tutorial covers all this).
Hope that helps...

Got it. It's all installed in correct locations, but the moment I installed the dual booting PBL from AID, my xBox won't boot past the splash (don't know what the correct terminology of it is) screen appears. It basically just hangs there.

It's possibly coz of a bug in AID 2 possibly, grab the v2.01 update pack, update the original AID 2 ISO, and reburn.
