I have softmodded 6 boxes so far using AID and my Chipped box, and all have been with Maxtor 250gb hdds... they all work great, and I am about to do my seventh box tonight... the hdd that I will be using is the same, a maxtor 250gb, the only difference is this hdd was locked and is currently being unlocked at a computer store... the guy that owns the hdd got it from his friend and it was locked w/ his eeprom, anyway, the comp guy asked him if he wanted it blank or with win2k on it, he said win2k.
So, my question is... if I try to format this hdd with win2k on it already, will it have any problems?

As long as the hard drive can still be locked/unlocked you should just be able to format it with AID or your mod chip. You should also send me a copy of what that guy used to unlock the drive (or at least get a copy for yourself)

you can either do a clean format or just use it as is because its gonna get reformatted when you set it up for the xbox ,
harddrive doesnt need to be lockable to use it in the xbox , the only time you actually need a lockable drive is if you are softmodding or will use the xbox for xbox live _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

I know it doesn't need to be locked for my chip box... but, this is how I upgrade the hdd's for the softmodded boxes that I do... anyway, I hadn't done a hdd with anything already on it yet... so I was just making sure before I mucked it up and had to pay for his hdd...
I'm gonna try it tonight, I'll post it tommorow.
