I just finished the download along with about 250 other people all about the same time. I just burned it to a dvd, and skimmed over the incredible manual provided with this installer. It really isn't needed to know how to use it, but it is a great addition for those few files that I didn't know what were. The ease of installation is super easy, pop the disk in, and hit install all apps, install all emulators, etc. It really can't get any easier unless it installed everything as soon as you put the disk in, and didn't give you a chance to say no.
The menu system is very intuitive, and helpful. Everything is laid out in the most logical places. The music in the background is an excellent touch. I have never thought about having bgm in an Installer before, it fits in really well.
In conclusion, this is THE BEST on the scene, the most complete, and I'm sure it will be the best supported just like every other thing on this site. Congrats to djb, forahobby, and all the other members here at xbox-hq.com.

Thanks for the kinds words.
Moffmo,
What size Hard Drive is in your Xbox, if it's the normal retail forget abut F drive, you'll never have it on that drive.
The reason why it says "extracting" is because all the content on the CD / DVD is zipped up, making it much smaller.
Also, PLEASE make a signature for yourself like the one I have below mine, which shows your xbox version, modchip, and bios...

HI Guys
I woke up to a very nice present this morning, however all i could do was burn it and head out to work. I did however send myself a copy of the manual for somethgin to read. AM itching to go home.
I just want to confirm that if i dont want to format F drive (retain the movies and games in there) i can simply format the other drives: C, E + G. Then use the file manager to create the needed folders, rather than preparing it?

No you don't have to re-format F Drive, you can manually select to format C, E, and G by themselves...

Thanks.
Yeh i got the bit about formating each drive individually. What I am asking is can I "prepare" F-drive manually (add the needed folders), so as not to delete the games etc already in there. I'm sure its a yes.. and i feel a bit lame asking in the first place.. but I just want to be sure.

WHen you prepare a drive, it doesn't format it. it only put the folders needed on the drive, and if they are already present it doesn't wipe anything...

OH MAN! What a great piece of work... I had a blast messing with the auto installer last night. Wife all sorts of pissed 'cause I didn't do anything other than play with the installer. Got yelled at, barked at, scolded and berated. Loved every second of it.... Holy sh*t! Where's the Tylenol? _________________ http://twitter.com/HQ_Shark2th

Grouse work
Just a couple of things - please note that I have only attempted a C installl so far. So please correct me if im wrong
1. When you enter the option to install C dashboards there is no C option after you select your dash. Although, if you choose to install that dash to E, then it extracts to C anyways. - may confuse a n00b
2. Is this a 'multi-dash' installer ? I have only been able to install 1 hacked dash, plus the m$ dash - if I install more than 1 hacked dash then the .XBE of the previous dash gets overwritten
I was hoping to be able to use Avalaunch for the funky web stuff, EvoX for trainers, and UnleashX for copying games and music. I wanted to be able to access any dashboard from any dashboard.
After work I will try a few different install options, I really just wanted to know about the multi-dash thing, I would love to be able to install a multi dash system without going and editing the xml for each dash.
laters and keep up the excellent work -

Sketchy,
1. When you enter the option to install C dashboards there is no C option after you select your dash. Although, if you choose to install that dash to E, then it extracts to C anyways. - may confuse a n00b
Basically when it says E, it means that is the drives it will search with that dashboard. So, you install it to C Drive, but you tell the dashboard which drives to search for apps, games etc.
2. Is this a 'multi-dash' installer ? I have only been able to install 1 hacked dash, plus the m$ dash - if I install more than 1 hacked dash then the .XBE of the previous dash gets overwritten
It can be with a little bit of work. Basically you'd have to install XSelect on C Drive (or wherever your BIOS boots first to on the HDD), then install the dashboards elsewhere. However, once you install a dash to a drive, in order to install another you have to rename the evoxdash.xbe file (just something like evoxdash2.xbe so it doesn't get overwritten). Then, when you go to configure XSelect you can select various dashboards to assign to buttons which you press during startup. Also, XSelect doesn't have config files to edit as such, it's all done in the program.
