Hi Guys,
Finally bought my xbox and had it softmodded by a modding-guy(xbmc as dashboard) and also had a larger harddrive installed.
I have 2 questions:
Now before I start pumping stuff on it, I want to backup my xbox as is, so that if something gets messed up I can also go back to my backup. I don't know which files are important in a softmodded xbox.
What is the best way to do this..? use some special bootdisk, copy the files when the files are not in use or perhaps make a Ghost or Acronis Image(if possible)? I'm pretty new to this thing, so please provide step-by-step information.
In the scripts section I saw about a million scripts..I found some interesting ones: one being the Dutch TV Guide. I use this script...Does it go out and simply show info from a site or does it "stream" data onto my harddisk (if so where does it go to)...haven't messed with this because I first want to have question 1 in place
Many many thanks in advance..

Just FTP into your xbox and copy the entire C:/, E:/, and F:/ drives to your computer. Here is a post that will walk you through the ftp process...
All you have to do is drag and drop the directories to your PC. You dont have to worry about the X:/, Y:/, and Z:/ drives.... they are only used for caching files _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

your eeprom is the only thing you`ll need if you have a probem.
everything else can be sourced from the web.
what your looking for is a file called eeprom.bin, if you have this file stored safe on your pc you`ll always be ok. make sure you have it because it isn`t on the hdd to start with.
if you can`t find it you can use evolutionx dashboard to easyly create a backup.
P.S. Don`t let anyone else have a copy of it as your xbox can be cloned from it, this can stop you getting on the web.
I will do both then, copy the files like you said...and try the eeprom backup..!
2 more simple questions for you guys...:
1) When my xbox got sofmodded, is the eeprom adjusted ?
2) I'm currently using xbmc as dashboard, I would have modify my dash to EvolutionX, is there a tutorial available on how to do this..?
Many thanks...!

Make sure that the softmod package you're using doesn't patch your eeprom or used shadowc.img ....... If it does, you might want to consider using another softmod package to backup your eeprom because you'll only be getting a fake eeprom.

Hmm...looks like the softmod guy already made a backup before modding my xbox..I have the following files in my E:\ Drive :
EEPROMBackupBeforeUpdate.bin
EEPROMBackupBeforeLock.bin
213178652805_backup.bin
EEPROMBackupBeforeLock.cfg
EEPROMBackupBeforeUpdate.cfg
Are these the files I need..?
Thanks again..!

Then go ahead and use ConfigMagic off of AID 3.0 to "Create Backup Files" Dont do anything else while in ConfigMagic but make backup files and exit, because you can seriously mess up your box... After that is done just reboot to your dashboard and ftp into your xbox. The files will be located in the E:/ drive just like the other files. That is because more than likely he also used ConfigMagic to change your eeprom. _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html
