No, when I boot the Xbox it shows the "flubber" animation, then the Xbox Logo, then Microsoft under the Xbox logo, and it goes to a blank screen.
Xbox games still load and I've tried using Halo 2 to update the dash and get the M$ dash back, but that didn't work. The AID disk, Slayer, and Frosty's Recov discs won't boot either.

*clears throat* uh, about that...
I'm not sure why the AID disc isn't booting if games do. I'm using DVD-R's on the DVD Decrypter included. Could it be the fact that it's a lite version of the AID?

Well, how would I get a backup of my eeprom? Wouldn't that require either FTP or opening the Xbox?

No, the Xbox is softmodded (i just can't access the dashboard, so it looks like I'm going to have to build an eeprom reader.
Can't i just unplug the IDE cable when the Xbox boots and the Microsoft Logo is diplayed to unlock the drive, and recover the files using my PC?
