hey guys my friend hasnt given me the free xbox yet but i was wondering. if i have two working boxes that are softmodded with linux and unleashx, can i use one as a server only? maybe with two hhd's? and one with the regular setup of a dvd drive and hdd? id like to have all my backup games on the "server" one and be able to at least transfer them to the "user" xbox. or at least use the "server" xbox as just the hdd space and ftp the backups there just to store them for later because my computers hdd gets full fast lol and i dont have a dvd burner yet thanks \m/Thor\m/ _________________ If you wanna check out some of my music go to http://www.myspace.com/4evertrying Ill appreiciate your support.

If it has the M$ Bios you need to have a HDD and a DVD on the IDE. Otherwise it gives you an error. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

If you are planning to Soft-Mod then you need to have a HDD and a DVD. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

yeah the xbox my friend should be giving me is all factory but the dvd drive doesnt seem to work or something. i have a thompson drive that i just bought for my 1.1 that i could swap (right?). the only problem is that my 1.1 is all messed up. it has the christmas lights problem (boots three times and blinks red and green) so theres no bios on the motherboard or hhd (right?) what kinds of problems will this cause me if i want to make a server out of my friends xbox? thanks \m/Thor\m/ _________________ If you wanna check out some of my music go to http://www.myspace.com/4evertrying Ill appreiciate your support.

Yes you can put that DVD drive into that Xbox, they all interchange. _________________ I think I like fixing Boxes more than using them!

This started out as a good topic with a legitimate question and then turned into, I dont know what. Anyway, Ive chipped a bunch of boxes but never bothered with softmods before so I only know the basics of how its done and kind of how they work.
Well, I got this broken xbox with no power supply off of ebay for like $34 and figured i should have enough spare parts to fix whatever it was that was wrong with it. It's a 1.4 I put in a working power supply from my 1.4 (before the spare I ordered arrived) and a also replaced its thompson with a spare working phillips drive I had laying around just in case. At first it booted fine and the xbox dash was working for a few minutes. Then it either fragged or froze or both i dont remember. Every time since then it tries to boot 3 times and Frags on the third attempt. The same thing happens with power or eject. The tray does not open, and there is no audio or video. You think I could get it working by just putting a chip on it? I mean do you just flash the chip using the Appropriate BIOS for that chip or do you need to flash someting for the MS BIOS
