I have finally decided to try and fix my old Xbox and need some advice. I will be opening it up later this afternoon and will be able to give more info on the system. But when I turn it on I get the Error 21 screen. I have attempted to load a game and it will not work. I'm hoping that there is hope for this old girl. Having some trouble finding info on the error 21 issue. Again I would like to thank you in advance for any help.
I think error code 21 is pretty generic and not a hardware issue I think.
Did you back up your EEPROM? If so, then you have a nuclear backup option, rebuilding your xbox hard drive from scratch.
You can rebuild your xbox hard drive using autobuilder v5.1 or babylon with it. That's all those programs need. However this is sort of a nuclear option. Think of it as reinstalling your OS for your xbox.

Whenever this error happens to me, re-installing the dash and/or softmod fixes it. I think this error occurs when the Xbox can't load the dash for some reason. _________________ Xbox Original

Sorry for taking so long to get back to the forums. I have been having some crazy RL stuff happening. I will be cracking open my classic xbox this afternoon and finding out which version it is and what the hdd is. Will post again tonight or tomorrow.
