Hi all,
I've got a v1.4 Xbox (softmodded). My hope was to simply upgrade XBMC. So I popped in XBMCID. The installer fires up and runs fine. I read through the manual, and opted to do the Softmod one-click installer. I did the following:
I did *not* purposely format/prepare any drives (just wanted an upgrade).
- backed up drives to G:
- unmounted the virtual C drive (not sure I had one, but just in case)
- ran the one-click installer
- it gets done and says I need to shutdown & restart to complete installation
- I pull the XBMCID disk, and reboot
The first time I reboot, I get an error 21. I turned the box off and fired it up again. This time, it takes a while, but what appears to be a SID rescue dash comes up. All I can really do is hit the 'A' button -- which does some sort of batch script that copies some files around in an effort to fix things I would guess.
I reboot again -- the SID rescue dash keeps coming up -- or it just hangs (with a yellow ring).
So, I have a few questions:
1) What else did I need to do that I didn't do?
2) What should the Xbox do after the one click install completes and tells me to reboot?
3) How do I fix all of this?
Please let me know if you need further info.
Thanks!

OK. So, should I restore the C: drive first -- then back up to E:? Do all drives need to be backed up to E:?
Thanks!

Dammit! I just fired the box up this morning, and now I'm getting error 14 and cannot get the XBMCID disk to boot at all.
What is the best way to proceed from here?
Thank you

You are getting a dash error and if you can boot a live enabled game then it should rebuild the dash for you, if not then you can do a hot swap.
