Hi all,
This is my first XBOX mod and I've run into a snag with the installation. I purchased an Xecuter 2.6 Lite chip with an Xapt3r. I've installed both chips and ran a testboot to see if the FlashBIOS (cromwell) would take over the MS BIOS. I set the external switches to (chip on, flash off, and bank 1). After booting the XBOX, the MS BIOS continues to run and the FlashBIOS doesn't take over. The Xapt3r is showing 3 blue LED and 1 red LED (at the D0 connetion point). The Xecuter has its blue LED lit; everything seems to be sitting correctly. I've double checked that the d0 wire is seated properly... I'm at a loss. Does anyone know what's happening? Am I doing something wrong? Why isn't the Xecuter taking control... the "Eject" LED is solid green until it goes to the MS error page.
Thanks
By the way, my XBOX is version 1.1

from what you describe your D0 is not making a good connection hence why the xbox is still trying to boot the M$ dash

Any Suggestions as to how this might be accomplished? I've adjusted the d0 wire a number of times. I wouldn't have to solder the connection would I? This would defeat the whole purpose of having a solderless adapter. What exactly does the red LED signify? I've seen several opinions on this subject through various forums. Some people suggest that this is normal behaviour; while others suggest that this is abnormal and indicates a poor connection. Who's correct?
If in fact this signifies a poor connection; other than seeing the appropriate BIOS screen how would I know that the wire is connected properly?

from memory i think the led should emit the same colour as the others. Check the team xecuter website forums for more info.
Have you tried cleaning the LPC and D0 with a fibreglass pen and/or some rubbing alcohol

I had that same problem with my solderless 1.6 chip when i was putting it in. I had reseated it about 7 times, and it never worked. So i took a pin and pushed it into the holes (not the LPC ones) and it worked when i reseated it. So that worked for me. _________________

No, I haven't tried that. I don't have a fibreglass pen. What's a good technique for cleaning the connections with rubbing alcohol. (I have limited electronics experience unfortunately, otherwise, I suppose I wouldn't have to ask that question).
It would appear that the Team Xecuter forums have disappeared... Is there anyone that can confirm that a red LED (for the d0 connection) on an Xapt3r is bad? I.e. can this LED be blue under any circumstances?
Thanks

Hi dartht33bagger,
Can you please clarify "So i took a pin and pushed it into the holes (not the LPC ones)". Which "holes" are you referring to? What type of pin? (Sorry I just don't have enough experience in this area to make assumptions).

Ok if i said pen, i ment pin. Once of the little things with the pointy tip. Im talking about pushing the pin (dont put in very far though) in the holes that you would put the Xapt3r legs into. So not the LPC holes, but the D0 hole that will be off to the side somewhere. _________________

Thanks to both of you for your responses so far... I'd just to clarify again dartht33bagger, I only have one connection from the Xapt3r to the motherboard because I have a version 1.1 system (I just assumed that you were talking about a 1.6 system because you mentioned holes).
I attempted to gently push a straight pin into the d0 connection point as you suggested, but after connecting the wire to the d0 point and booting the system, nothing has changed.
Again, would anybody be able to verify my question regarding the red LED (on the Xapt3r)?

With the xapt3er you put the D0 into a hole on the top of the motherboard right... _________________

Yes, it's pushed down through the top of the motherboard.

loosen screw place chip on xapter push down on chip and xapter move (take care not to move it to much or to hard) till you see flashbios do screw up
the solderless are known to give the right leds but the install is still not 100% more like 99%
take care your now playing with a loaded gun ELECTRICITY

Hey boobs,
I took your advise and loosened the screw. Then I powered on the system and attempted to adjust the Xecuter chip until the FlashBIOS showed up. The screen never appeared (it continued to show the MS BIOS), and the LED's were lighting up as I would expect them to when I applied pressure, and disappeared when I let go. I guess this is unlikely, but could the Xecuter chip be faulty? How would I know if that was the case?
Another thing, when I apply pressure to the Xapt3r, should it feel as if it clicks into place? In other words, does it require an unusual amount of pressure to seat properly in the LPC?

Solderless stuff is so weird like this, just get a soldered chip if you can. If not your going to have to make something to hold the xapt3r down. _________________
