Hello Everyone and thanks to the people of xbox-HQ.
I have followed step by step the tutorial on how to install a new hdd. The problem is that the boot disk i burn that should let me install, will not boot.
I donīt know the model of the modchip i own, so i cannot tell if it's hdd swappable.
I did the xiso ok; i burnt it with nero, i used the string for Evox 3924, i've yet to check if it's the media i'm using. ( By the way, is there a fool proof media that'll work on all xboxes???)
Please hear my call for help.
Many thanks in advance.

You may want to give some more info, such as what bios you are running as certain bios' may or may or may not support a larger HD.
I would say try this. Become a VIP member and download DJB's autoinstaller. This autoinstaller will format your HD, install EvoX and some kick ass apps. Plus, if you run into any issues you can submit a VIP service request ticket and get answers from very experienced individuals.
Or, you can try to find a Slayers Autoinstaller on the net via Bit Torrents or file sharing communitities, but it's tough and you don't know what you're really getting.
VIP members here have access to FTP downloads, roms, dashboards, autoinstallers, apps galore!! Plust support that kicks ass.
Good luck.
Welcome to the site BTW....enjoy your stay _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I'd love to be a VIP; but I only have an international credit card, and it will only accept paypal.
My bios version is listed as unknown in the evox dashboard.
Is there a way to determine what mod chip I have??

The quickest way to check what modchip you have is to open up the xbox and just look. This way you also get to know your xbox a little bit as well.
Do you mean that you used evox 3921? I dont believe there is a 3924, but I could be wrong.
You used to be able to find slayers on IRC channels the easiest, but I would reocomend the VIP membership as we offer great service and first hand support. Send a PM to forahobby, as he might be able to set it up differently, but I'm not sure. As many people have stated its the best $10 theyve spent in a long time.
Anyways, good luck and post any new questions you might have. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

Different Mod Chips have different boot characteristics, but I'm no expert on them all. Some you have to hold certain buttons, others you have switches to turn them on. The only sure way to tell is to open the puppy up, remove the DVD drive and look to see what you got. It's actually easier than it sounds. The xbox is one of the easiest things to dismantle that I have ever seen.
Have you ever utilized Bit Torrents? You should look into that and see if you can find a Slayers Autoinstaller. I have seen version 2.5 out there a lot.
If you have no Bit Torrent experience, just download Java2 Platform as you will need it running in the background. Also download a free program called Azureus. Then go do a google search for Bit Torrent files. Search out xbox games and you will most likely find the Slayers 2.5 autoinstaller.
You could always email the webmaster here and get a physical address to send a donation to via money order. That is one way to bypass Pay Pal. Now as far as what bios you have, there are ways of finding that out pretty easily. Here's one way. When your xbox boots and the splash screen is up (the screen with the green x) under neath the x you will see either Microsoft or something else. What do you see? Mine says, "Xectuer2" which means I am running an Xecuter2 bios. My evox says the same thing, bios unkown so don't think there's anything wrong.
Hang in there, we'll get you sorted. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Okay, from that info you have a blue bios, just meaning that it changes the xbox logo to blue, that helps but there are different bios that have a blue version, One I know that has a blue version for sure is the M7 but its a little bit older, although I still use it as it is realible and still works for me.
The microsoft also limits down what bios it is as I believe that xecuter bios' make it say xecuter there instead of microsoft.
And like realmccloy and i said the onyl way to find out what chip your using is to open up your xbox. 6 screws on the bottom and youre good to go.
Anyways good luck and let us know what kind of chip you've got in there. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

Well it tells us what chip you have but we cant tell which bios from the chip. The only way to tell what your bios is is from your xbox, you hsould be able to find it somewhere, I dont have my xbox in front of my right now but look around besides the main screen and you should be able to find it. Good luck. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

ok.. I can pretty much guarantee you that its not your BIOS causing the problems..
1. So have you booted a BACKUP GAME on DVD-R in your XBOX since you have had it?
2. If you can boot DVD-R games or CDRW BACKUPS what media is it on?? You should use the same media..
Also what program are you using the burn the AUTO INSTALLER or EVOX?
Are you making a XISO
There are so many questions i could ask you but really its just a MEDIA PROBLEM.. Burn and XISO using NERO, CDRWIN.. They work 100% fine for me and everyone i recommend them to..
