Maybe everyone else was aware of this site already, but I've just discovered a great way to get legit MP3s at a reasonable price.
Tired of paying $15US to download an album off your favorite music website when you can just buy the CD at Wal-Mart for the same price? So was I!
I found AllOfMP3.com through the TechTV website. AllOfMP3.com is a Russian website that is licensed by ROM, the Russian equivalent of the RIAA. They sell MP3s (yes! MP3s! not those other "secure" formats that you can't do much with) at 1 cent per megabyte. You can also choose what level of compression quality you want... low, high, or CD quality. For example if you want something totally retro, you can download the Village People's "YMCA" at low quality for 3.5 cents or CD quality for 8.7 cents. You can choose other formats as well... WMA, OGG, MPEG4, or MPC.
They don't have every known song, but they do have a nice collection. They have Usher's "Confessions" and "Shrek 2" soundtrack, for instance. Because of differences in Russian copyright laws, they can offer some Beatles songs no one else has (according to one review I read).
I also read that the RIAA is none too happy about AllOfMP3.com, but are powerless to do anything about it, as it's a Russian company following Russian laws.
The only criticism I've read revolves around fears of giving the Russian Mafia your credit card number. Since you can use PayPal to purchase download credits, this doesn't appear to be a legitimate concern anymore.
The recording industry missed the boat with Napster. Instead of killing it, they should have worked to control it. I've always felt that if you made high quality legal MP3s at a reasonable price, people would stop stealing them. Now it's time to test that theory... AllOfMP3.com!

Yes I use them aswell, and I'll say that they are very good
It practically costs nothing and you get your money worth!
I'd suggest to any music-fan to check this out...
