I'm installing a xenium chip. When I boot up the xbox it goes directly to the xbox screen instead of the xenium. I have the correct d0 and i am using a solderless adapter. What should I do?

I know that's not right because I have the same thing and went right to the OS. You sure all of the contacts are solid?

well I'm using a solderless adapter. Everything seems to be ok. The chip turns on with a red light, but no xenium screen.

Be sure that you've cleaned all the points with rubbing alcohol.

Some are coated with some kind of clearish stuff. It sounds like your D0 is fine (otherwise it wouldn't try and boot from the LPC) and the chip is getting power so some of the solder points are good.

I'd say that some of the solder points aren't right (even though they may look it) or you've bridged between two points.

If you have a multimeter, try using that to check the voltage on each PIN, and see which aren't right.

If not, try pushing each pin gently from the top, and see if it moves on the bottom - that could indicate where the issue is.

Try switching your xenium to safe mode. There is a little switch on your chip, flip it to safe mode. before you turn your box on, burn the recovery.bin file from the Xenium and boot from that CDRW while in safe mode. After it says updated, switch it back to regular mode and see if it works.

Oh dang... If you have a multi meter check for continuity between the d0 and pin 4. Make sure the d0 is clean and able to make good contact. Check the hook on the adapter, make sure it is not broken in the adapter it should not move from side to side.

I would have to wonder what color the chips LED is??

Is it red, or green?

Initially hearing this, I would check the D0. If the D0 is good and your chip connections are bad, wouldn't you just get a frag with no video??

If D0 connection is bad, then typically you just get a normal booting xbox because the motherboard will not boot to the LPC unless D0 connection is found.

Chip Led IS RED. I think I screwed up the xbox. It's a v 1.3 with the wierd d0. I'm assuming could not get a good connection. Now its frags without the chip in. OOPS. It could also be that it is damaged since the guy did not package it right. No bubble wrap. He just put it in a box and the box looked beat up when I received it. I have another mobo so I will try that and see if it works.

Well, the red LED is definitely an indication of a problem. Let me know how the new install goes. If the older motherboard works without the chip in you acn at least resell it for someone who isn't looking for a modded xbox.
