Hi,
Great site, great community.
I have had intermitant problems where XBMC wont connetc to my network with just a error message saying "Success"
I played with the netwrok settings and it seems to be working now.
I have shared all the folders i wish to use on my pc, and so booted up my xbox, went into "WORKGROUP (SMB Network)" it shows My PC and my brothers PC.
He is running XPHome and i am running XPPro.
Now i can access his pc fine, but when i try and access my pc it asks for a User/pass under smb://******/ (The name of my Machine)
Now i followed a couple guides i found on the net and added the usergroup Xbox with user/pass Xbox, and this doesnt work.
Am i missing something i have ste on ym PC that is causing my Xbox to need auth to access my pc.
Please help as i got movies to watch and games to play

I believe your group must all be names WORKGROUP.
Note that XP tends to turn on it's firewall without permission of the user by default. Very common for the Xbox to be blocked by the firewall.

my network is default MSHOME and i have configured xbmc.xml thingy to reflect that.
All ip's are set up and work fine, as i say i can connec tto my bros pc but mine asks for user/pass
I only have one user account on my main pc, witch is passworded but that should not be the issure, there must be some network restriction somewhere that i am missing.
Also Windows firewall is totally disabled. i even went into admin tools and stopped it running.

Ok, i went to a lan party on Saturday got home and set ym pc back up.
All of a sudden my Xbox could connect to my PC and i was happily watching Stargate,
The next day i went to watch stargate and the xbox failed to connect again and asked for user/pass for smb://GARY/
I had not changed anything from the night before.
A friend suggested enabling guest account, but ti has been enabled all along.
This issue is starting to really bug me as i dont want to burn 18dvd's of stargate just to watch them.
Any and all advice would be great.
