I've heard it's possible to do a hotswap between 2 Xbox in case that everything had goes wrong wihile attempting to softmod a virgin XBox.(error 21 or something worst like not rebooting at all)
Is there a complete tutorial somewhere?
Until now,i''ve found this nice one: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=225796 but with no complete explanations on how-to-do safe swapping between Xbox.
(with illustrations should be like reaching the NewB's Nirvana )
The goal is to use my chip- modded xbox( with diag-repair tools loaded on my E:\ drive and a memcard) to hotswapp between machines and then re- install ot just repair failed SID installation anywhere at my ''unluckiest friends'' home (with FTP access)
Ok...it make me think about a ''Real- Newb-One'' question...and even if i'm a little to ask it i'll go for it anyway...
is there an apps in AID 2.0 to manage and transfer files via FTP between both XBox without running the ftp client on a PC?
Even if i've done only 2 successfull softmod without a fail...The coolest thing should be to have a complete:
Somekind of -XB Doctor Anywhere V.4.0- (with all restore tools and a simple but usefull error codes and troubleshooting guide included in notepad readable format) ???

yes there is a app in AID to ftp into the xbox. Now why are you trying to do this hotswap? Do you have an error code? If so which one. Give some details about why and maybe you won't have to do a hotswap. Also as long as when you are trying to softmod an xbox back up the EEPROM and HD key you can fix most anything because if the worst happens, HDDM can be used to rebuild the HD. And no hotswaping is involved. _________________

I don't try to hotswap from now...All i want to do is to prevent because i plan to do a lot of softmod for my friends.
And yes,i know that i'm able to restore almost anything with a complete back-up before proceeding with a new machine.
The idea was to find an all-in-one diagnostic (error codes and troubleshooting guides available from my chipped Xbox) and repair tool (apps) just-in-case something goes very wrong.
Maybe i could edit my own troubleshooting guides and put it on my XBox?
Now i understand that the worst thing that could happen is an error 21 wich means the machine the Xbox don't want to load any dashbord.
Is that correct?
With the help of advanced softmodders like you...i think i'll became addict before long time! Lol!!!

An error 21 is actually a very easy fix. If you encounter it it does mean the dash can't load so what you do is insert the game disc and load from that. That way it doesn't try to load the dash and theen reinstall the softmod. If I ever get an error code that is the first thing I always try because if I can get it to load the game I can then reinstall the softmod and it hasn't failed me yet (long as the game will load). Error 21 is the most common error I come across when I get a box with an error code. _________________

Ok...now i understand that NOTHING couldn't be repair if we do a COMPLETE back-up before.
Then i suggest that a lot of peoples seems to be in troubles ONLY because they've forgot backing-up something crucial before softmoding their XBox.
