My xbox live was working perfectly with the network settings set to automatic untill I installed my modchip. Of course I lost all settings because it took me hours to install my chip. When I got everything back together, I booted up the retail kernel and tried to go onto live, and now all I am getting is a "No DNS Server addressess were received from the dhcp or ppoe server". Anyone else go through this? I've tried calling xbox live support and comcast support, and it is one of those pickles. I call xbox live and they say call comcast, I call comcast and they say call xbox live.

Also, I hooked up my other virgin xbox and it signed right onto xbox live using the exact same cables as my modded one. So I copied down all the settings in the network and put them in my modded xbox. Booted up with the modchip turned off, and It still says the gateway could not be reached. Any help would be much appreciated. Also, what screen pops up when you do get banned from XBL? _________________ XBOX- V1.0

Where you can change the settings set them to auto. I have mine that way and it works and it didn't before I did that. And the banned screen is very obvious. It says stuff about modded hardware of software. bla bla bla.

I've done both auto and manual and with auto I get no DNS. And with manual, I get the gateway could not be reached. thanks for your help though. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

hmm, sounds to me like your bios on the chip has the xbox live patch wich denies all access to live to prevent banning and detection.
Configure your bios, then reflash it, but remember that it's still risky to go on live.

I should of stated that I got it working. For some reason, my ethernet plug on the mobo wasn't connecting right. So i just removed the mobo, pushed down on the ethernet jack, and voila. it worked. _________________ XBOX- V1.0
