Okay, guys, I'm close to having a great softmodded Xbox. I know that AID works on my Xbox when booted from a DVD-R that I burned last night. Now the one question I have is this:
Before installing my virgin 250 gb hdd, do I need to flash a BIOS that will support partitions (namely, do I need to flash M8plus_16 altered to allow for partitions 6 & 7)?
My situation right now is this:
I have my stock hard drive softmodded and I am using EvoX 3935 as a dash. I was told by LordSith 77 to flash a BIOS that will support my new large drive before I install it. Must I flash this BIOS before installing my big hdd? I thought maybe AID would take care of this for me in the formatting and partitioning process. Also, after using AID, is my Xbox still softmodded, or will I need to use the splinter cell exploit to get it modded again? I would assume it would still be softmodded, but in the manual for AID (chapter 10), DJB explains how LTools is included for those that "want to play backup games without ever having to install a modchip". I figure that using AID softmods the xbox anyway and allows programs such as DVD2Xbox to work so that backups can be made without ever touching LTools.
I am concerned with flashing BIOS. I am worried that I will do something wrong and hurt my poor Xbox. Please let me know what I should do. _________________ XBOX v1.6:

I'm not all familiar with softmods but I don't think you flash your bios at all. A softmodded XBox loads the bios from a file when it is turned on. Also, there is Softmod Installer Deluxe (SID) which may be more appropriate, check the tutorial section, there may be one on swapping hdd on a softmod. I'll do some looking real quick and see what I find.

i've been posting around everywhere i know. thanks for your reply. i finally got everything working great last night at about 4am. i am so pleased with the results...huge hdd, fast loading, gigs of roms, plus all my backups are working great off the hdd, including splinter cell: ct. _________________ XBOX v1.6:
