ALL is not going well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so ive fitted my chip........now i dont no what to do with it?
and how the hell do i ftp my xbox to my hard drive coz i really wanna copy some apps on to my xbox to see what it can do!! im so confused!! there isnt one single simple guide out there to tell u exactly how to ptp xbox to pc!! and also i keep reading about fashing the bios????????? what is that all about.... ive installed the chip isnt that enough! do i need to flash bios??? isnt that what the modchip does????

well you have to flash the bios, how depends on the chip. You would get the bios from XBins.org, they have an irc channel you connect to an ftp through. Also this site has bioses as well, but i am not sure if they are as up to date.
then you would ftp or what not.
Typically, the only way to ship a modchip is with a legal bios ie. Cromwell or a linux derevitive. That will not allow you to play any back ups or originals, on operate functions as a typical computer os would operate. The X3 comes with a cromwell flash bios ,that allows you to flash the hacked bios on the chip either by network, disc.....
With the hacked bios you would be able to access more feature to your xbox including playing the games and ftping, dashboard installation etc...
Also some chips come with a os with it allowing for similar functions, but i am unfamiliar with the operations of the Smartxx and the xenium series. _________________ XBOX v1.6

only thing is they arn`t available to non vip`s,
there are good reasons for this, not just to get you to put your
hand in your pocket, it`ll all become clear soon enough,..

Yea blighty is right HQ has a lot, but last time i check the last bios for my x3 was the 19** (forget) but i jsut got the new x3 bios 319* from xbins the same day.
I believe it was on one of the ftp servers, i haven't look at the VIP downloads sections for the new bioses _________________ XBOX v1.6

so theres no way just to get a bios right now and stick on my chip???? i no im lame but i realy dont understand what ftp ing to xbins means or how i would do it???? i just wanna be able to do all the things a mod chip says you can do!!

Alright you have some options, easiest
1.)spend the 5 - 10 buck on a membership here, you have access to VIP downloads section HTML based, and also you have access to the VIP FTP server, which has similar and more items including the bioses. I just checked the VIP downloads section, it has the X3 .3029 bios, this was an up to date bios until yesterday.
They don't have the new one upload yet, i forget the version (.31**)
2.)That is available from xbins.org Xbins don't not actually allow you download files from their website. They have an FTP server you have to connect to. But in order to do that, you must have a IRC program like (mIRC). they are located in the room, i am not sure if i am allowed to post the instructions on the room or not. Its not hard, just google search
xbins xbox tutorial (its what i typed)
should be one of the first choices. Follow those instructions, ( look for the ones with well documented pictures..makes it easier)
Follow the instructions and you will recieve a Username and Password to their FTP server
ONLY 30 files a day...remember that. they ban, without asking twice.
look in the xbox section under bioses for your needs. _________________ XBOX v1.6

If you have the X3 chip, just go to the VIP download area (I see you are a trial VIP) and download the 3029 bios that I uploaded last week. I have tested the bios and so far it is bug free.
You can flash a few different ways.
Burn it to disk with a dummy file and flash via CD
FTP to a stock HD and flash from HD
Or, you can flash right from a web browser.
Also, take note of your switch configuration BEFORE you flash. This is a 1mb bios, so arrange your switch accordingly.

he actually became a member after i talked to him in this post and another topic in the vip forums

Your all helping him with good intentions, but i think he doesn't even know what FTPing is.
So you can all say FTP to xbins and stuff, but he doesn't understand.
So if anyone want to help this guy, you have to start from Scrap i think, and have a little bit of patience!

sorry guys!! it was along night so i hit the sack....now im fresh and ready!! i tried both of these methods but ive had no luck ive got the bios downloaded but i still dont understand how exectly i burn it to a disk ive even got the dummy file app! do i burn it as a data disk?? a dvd?? an image disk i just cant get it to work!! also ive not found anywhere that will tell me exactly how to set up my dip switches ready for the correct 1mb!!!

hes right i realy dont no what ftp ing is!!! ive got smart ftp and a cable running from my pc lan to my xbox ive tried following guides but it doesnt wrk!! i think this would be my safest method of updating my bios but i just cannot ftp into my xbox via pc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey vyesh....,
FTP-ing is just a simple way to get somthing of somebody's computer.
They let you acces a little piece of their harddrive or server or something.
Then they give you a username and password.
If you download an FTP client just get an URL or IP adres, then fill in the username and password, then the port (almost always port 21).
Then the program get's acces and you see in the right half of the screen the FTP files and maps, and the left half is your pc.
So now you can download and upload files.
Do you have a router? of do you have a direct cable to your pc?
That's important to know!

Maybe you have the wrong cable between your pc and xbox?
If you have an router between your xbox and pc you just need UTP cables.
But if you have a direct connexion to your box, you need a Croslink cable!! maybe that is the problem..

as far as i no its a crossover cable directly to my pc! i keep trying to ftp and its just not happening! do i actually need a new bios before i ftp to my pc??? am i trying something i cant do? this is a vicious circle! first i need a new bios by ftping but in order to ftp i need a new bios???????????????????? very strange....LOL! could you please go through i with me step by step! either ftp or burning bios to a disc????? thanks for all you guys helping!!!!

I would like to help you, but i'm not in the Chip scene.
If you just softmod your xbox i could help you out, but i don't know enough about new chips and stuff.
Can't you just donwload the Slayers Autoinstall disk 2.6, with that disk you can Flash your Bios and install Evox and stuff? it's also with step by step documentation. Can someone answer this?? is this possible if someone installed a chip in the Xbox, but doesn't have a new bios yet?
Do you live in the Netherlands? else i could maybe help you out in dutch, i't a little easyer for me to explain everything?
