Ok here is the current situation. For about 2 weeks i have been trying to put a bigger HD in my friends softmod i did for him. He bough the 120 gig the exact same HD that is in my chiped box. Now i have folowed the toutoral named "12 Step Softmod with Larger Harddrive"
Now when i get to step nummber 9 which is "Now take the new large drive that you will be putting in the unmodded xbox, into the modded box with the chip and boot with the HQ Auto Installer Delux Boot Disk in the dvd drive chose the option to format and install a new large harddrive.
After i put in the new large drive put in AID and boot the chiped box system i get error nummber 6 which is a hdd problem. I have tryed cable select jummper master jummper and taking it all out together. with the jummper in the cable select and the master i get the error nummber 6 screen. if i put in my retail drive or the retail drive of the unmodded xbox the cd boots with no problem whats so ever. But as soon as i hook up the 120 that he bough to upgrade it with i get nothing. If anyone knows anything that will help me i would really be grateful. this has givin me beyond a migrane.
I have done the softmod using the 007 with the retail and it works flawless just cant seem to get the new HD to work any help at all will be great. _________________ Xbox Ver. 1.4

06 is can not unlock harddrive ....so if you have locked your harddrive with the other xbox you have to unlock it before you can use it on other xbox ,
you cant use tha AID on unformated harddrive , so download a different autoinstaller like slayers or firefuckers or whatever then do a format ,

I have used AID to format new drives...you should get options for which partitions you want (based on HD size pick the right ones) I believe 120gb you sgould need F as a new partition only _________________ Xbox v1.0

yeah , i have the AID 1.1 and i tried to run it on a unformatted drive about 2 hours ago and guess what ... it doesnt boot ,
this version has not booted on any harddrives that i had that were not previously formatted _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

you need to lock the new hd with the eeprom from the softmodded xbox or the new hd won't boot. (i explained it in another post)

Ok how do i lock the harddrive and put thoses files on if slayers 2.5 slayers 2.6 AID none of them will boot with the new hdd in my chiped box no matter what i do the error nummber 6 pops up so how can i put files or ftp or do anything if i keep getting the error? _________________ Xbox Ver. 1.4

there are programs that you put your new drive (unformatted) in the DVD drives place then it formats the drive and copies all the data from the HD in the HD slot to the new one. I would suggest putting the HD from the softmod in your chipped box then using this method as it will copy everything from your softmod HD including EEPROM and such. Cant remember the name of the program, never used it myself as I have a xenium and the OS has this built in _________________ Xbox v1.0

is that really the problem tho??? 06 cant unlock.... that means that drives wasnt made in that xbox and therefore locked there. Usually my problem when i do people's upgrades. Have you tried / able to throw a friends chip in your box and using the AID to format , install, and lock the drive? _________________ Blue Chaos
Hi Andrewfrink, you stated there are progs that allow you to transfer files 1 for 1 from 1 hd to another.
Could you please let me know the name of the prog as i am still quite new to all this.

Pretty much the way it works (simplified) you run the program then insert the new HD where the dvd drive is (using a "y" adapter for power) and it copies everything from the HD running the program to the new HD. then put the DVD back, pwer off and put your new HD in place of the old one and presto. Its pretty sweet. thats how the xenium is other programs may differ slightly but thats for the most part it......good luck _________________ Xbox v1.0
