I have one of the early XBOX's v. because the hole are filled with solder on the mother board where the chip is to connect. I install the modchip and get the (2) blue lights and (1) green when the chip is disabled. Enabled only the (2) blue light come on. The outer button flashes green to orange. Conexant chip and the settings are 1.1 - 1.2 on the chip.
Now with everything connected to the TV. With the chip disabled the XBOX boots normally and the (2) blue light are on inside the box. When I enable the chip the outside light is green and cuts off (2) times. Then the the outer light flashes green and red and the screen is black.
Very frustrating - is the chip bad?

Does you modchip come pre-flashed?? You may need to flash a bios onto the chip before it will work..
Most chips do not come with a bios that boots backups..
For example: The xecuter and chameleon ship with the LEGAL CROMWELL BIOS which is used to boot your xbox to linux and not to boot backups.
Sounds to me like you need to flash you rmodchip but have never dealt with a Conexant chip before..

I purchased the mod chip from The Console Factory. They said it came preflashed with the legal Cromwell Bios.

hi mate,
well not sure if you know this but you will have to flash your new modchip before you can use it.. The Cromwell bios is the only LEGAL bios available for xbox modchips but it only allows you to boot LINUX..
We have all the bioses you need in our VIP section to play backup games so just go ahead and download the one you would like. I would suggest downloading the bios that supports up the 160gb etc..

So really you need to find the procedure to flash your Xecuter..
I believe you need a cdrom with a bios on it and you just pop it in your xbox and it will flash..
I havent installed a xecuter personally nor have i flashed one but cant be too much different from all the other modchips on the market..
Do a search of the forums on flashing or bios or xecuter.. youll find the answers..
also, i have just sent a mass pm to DJB, schimck, connor2k etc etc to see if they can help you..

Definatly check out the link forahobby posted. I havent played with the xecuter chip myself, but you could pm connor2k. He has I belive, so he could run through the whole process with you I'm sure.

All of the tutorials I have seen on flashing the Xecuter would not work for me.
I had to use a flashing program called oczflash to flash it. After that it worked like a charm
All you do is burn the oczflash to a disk and turn on your xbox with it in and the chip enabled. Then it will pop up running the program and ask you to install a bios. From there just insert a disk with the bios you want on it and it should work fine. Feel free to pm me with any questions. _________________ "Modding the world, one xbox at a time"

Im sure he wont mind either uploading it to the website for you or emailing it to you.. If you find the software you need please upload it as well..
As im sure you also know there are so many modchips out there and so many different ways to flash them too. So please bare with us mate.. We dont know the answers to every questions but we surely try to learn and help you..
