Reading posts about scamms made me remember this PDF I read awhile back.
Its about a guy who was selling a Powerbook on E-bay then figured out in the last minuite he was about to get scammed. Thus the war began. With the help of the worldwide internet community this guy was able to scam the scammer, as well as find the buisiness he operated from and see the responce he got... Its a long story but a damn good one.
Sit back, grab a soda and some popcorn and read about the little guy living it out for all of us.
This story hits close to home because I had a roomate that bought a Nikkon F5 (about $2000 USD I think) from a guy in Spain. E-bay closed down the auction because (for what he claimed) was a mistake in his street address. So they settled outside of E-bay. He had just got done Western Unioning the guy the money and was about to leave the dorm room for his final Physics exam when he got an E-mail from Yahoo Fraud Busters. It said his real name and that he was a scammer. At that moment we forwarded his corrospondence E-mails to my friend Jim wo did an IP Visual Route to find out that it was more than a simple stret address problem, the Visual route ended up in Romania! ym roomate called Western Union right that second and was able to cancel the wire onthe nick of time. They even were nice enough to wave the cancellation fee due to the circumstances. A day later the guy started e-mailing him saying he was a fraud and sasid he was gioing to report him, in the meantime my roomate was forwarding the e-mails to the FBI.
This was a great story with a happy ending, but its not as good as the "P-P-P-P-P-Powerbook!!!" story I posted above.

hehe pretty good story. i almost got burned buying a $1500 laptop. lucky for me he foiled his own plans. he had me send a money order to him VIA UPS. when i got the money order from my bank i asked them if it could be canceled like a check and the bastards told me yes. lying bastards. anyway. i send it out and send him the tracking number and he emails me back telling me he needs it sent Via Western Union. Well alarm bells go off at that point and i go to the bank to try and cancel the money order and find out thats its basically now cash in the mail to the guy. I caused a major scene in the bank and ended up closing my account, i will not stay at a bank that lies to its customers. so i go to UPS and i explain to them that i need the package stopped and returned. well this is not something that they normally do. luckily the owner/manager or whatever was there and felt my pain. so he told me that he would do his best for me. the next day he calls me, and tells me that the package was put on hold in AZ and they would even pay the return shipping Thx UPS you are #1 in my book
