Ive been doing a shitload of mods for friends lately and have found the new APPLEXV to bejust what im after..

It can be turned on or off at the XBOX power button and is the simplest chip ive ever had the pleasure to install.

Ive install 29 wire enigmahs before and what a joke (took way too long)

and i also installed tonnes of the EVOX D6 (EXECUTOR 2) from kangamail.com (only for v1.0 xboxes).. (they arent too bad)..

but now RECOMMEND to go for applexv guys..

anyway thats my 10 cents..

ok ill explain a little more..

APPLEXV

Apple X V One chip for all current existing xbox (v1.0, v1.1, v1.2, v1.3, v1.4, v1.5) - Can boot between original and modchip bios -Flash upgradable or Flash protect option.

The way I install them there is only 2 actual wires (long)..

You sit the modchip over the normal area where you soldier most modchips. Then i just soldier about 0.5 of a inch of wire on each of the matching holes where the modchip will sit..

Then i run a wire to the eject button and another to the usual D0 point..

Here are the specs to download here mate:
http://kangamail.com/estore/support/xbox/AppleX_V_installpics.zip

you will understand them fully if you have ever done another mod before..

btw.. AUD$ is cheap for all you USA guys as delivery is worth nothin in OZ and rod (kangamail.com) is a top bloke and a good friend of mine..

I doubt between the AppleX V & Alladin V2.0. Do you have any experience with the Alladin version?

What ya mean?? Do you think the alladin is better..

I havent seen a Alladin Yet but may get a sample sent.. Smile

Im recommending AppleX C coz ive already done like 5 installs in the last 2 weeks alone.. Really simple if you can soldier a little bit..

Even a tv technician would do it coz it is that simple.. The chip also comes with a working bios so you dont have to much around and also instructions on where to install to..

I'm not sure which version of the Apple X I got installed by forahobby, but I recommend it. I love the idea you can boot your xbox up and still make it look unmodded.

In the details of the chip, it says it's pre loaded with Linux, does that mean I have to change the OS in my XBOX to linux, or simply means that it'll boot and I can get in with the BIOS CD?

all modchips are shipped with a LEGAL 'Cromwell Bios' that allows your xbox to boot linux..

You can find hacked bioses and flash your modchip so it is able to play unsigned code (backups)

hope this answers your questions..!

Just a quick question...

A mate of mine just purchased the limited edition Crystal Xbox. Just wondering if he'd have any problems installing the AppleX V into it.

Post subject: Another question about the Apple XV
Reply with quote

Ok I understand that the Apple-X V is cheap and very easy to install. Those are both great things and I'm ready to buy it. I'm just not sure if it will be able to do everything I want it to do.
I will be installing this into my V1.1 xbox, so there is no problem there. I also think that i'll be able to handle the two wires to soldier

I want to also be able to run home brewed software like a media player to play movies and more importantly emulators.
Basically I want to turn my xbox into a multi media center where I can upload my movies and mp3's along with backups of my games on to the hard drive and play them all.

If the Apple XV can do all of this then point me in the direction of the best place to buy the mod chip. Otherwise what would you suggest that is easy and fairly cheap for a mod chip?

Thanks!

You will be able to do all of that, but keep in mind what you will need to do with movies is convert them over to DivX. Technically, you could RIP a DVD to your xbox and then play the individual .vob files, but that is cumbersome.

What I do is RIP the movie on my PC (if you dont have dvd burner then RIP on your xbox) then I convert the movie to DivX using 1CLICKDVD to DiVX program.

I then FTP the DivX file over to my xbox and watch it via XBMC.

Good luck

I think with two wires you have to be missing some functions. LED, HDD, LIVE? With Aladdin+ 3 wires gets everything sorted.
I'm not trying to sell it as of course there is an even newer Aladdin out.
But basically AppleX is a rip off of the Xecuter, so is the Aladdin so they are pretty much the same chip.
The Aladdin comes with a set of pins so it gets my vote (naturally :-])
