I have a 250gb setup in my 1.6 w/ a SmartXX chip.
I used the Slayer auto installer to setup the drive with C,E,F,G partitions.
Would i be able to throw the drive in a new 1.6 w/o a chip and get it to boot if I used the Splinter Cell game save?

You would first need to get the eeprom off of the unmodded machine by using some type of gamesave that autoloads evox. Then choose the backup option, and then ftp the eeprom out of the xbox.
Then you would need to lock that 250gb hard drive, with the eeprom from the new xbox, so that you would be able to boot it, then you should be able to softmod it without problems, personally I would softmod the stock hard drive, then use xboxhdm, and then make the 250gb hard drive through that program. However that will format it and all. _________________

I think I half understand
Before I opened up my original 1.6 I did a soft mod using ITools for Splinter Cell NTSC
If I do the same thing on the new box before I take it apart does the backup option on XMX do what you are sayig with the eeprom?
If so I then FTP that save file off the original drive, and save it to the 250 gb?
Thanks for the help btw!

MXM I'm sure should be able to do the same thing. I really don't know it though. _________________

What in the world is going on here? A mod chip user going to softmod? Duth my ear betrade me? My the 7th sign of the apocolipyse has come true!!!
I mean oh welcome to the dark side of softmoding. The current softmod that is out there will allow you to do almost everything that the modchip can do but where to find it is another question. MMmmmm well the previous post on the stock HD being softmoded , I wouldn't because If you want to go on XBL you NEED that drive and if you say so what, my modchip can disable to go on live. Yea, you might be right for now until M$ changes things...again so take my advice don't softmod the retail drive!
