Hi mate,
too late.. ive already told ya.. hehehe
its the first time ive been asked actually and ive been compiling for quite a while now..
for other members ill let ya know..
ok.. If you want to compile source code i hope you have coded before..
Its really not that simple but i will quickly do a short run down.
1. Install Microsoft Visual Studio .Net - FULL INSTALL
2. Install XDK (which ever one you can get) - FULL INSTALL
(there are free XDK kits available from other authors rather then m$ too..)
3. Download some sourcecode from say xboxmediacenter.com or something like that. another example is DVD2XBOX (source is available)
4. Double click the .vcproj file (if it has one) or else double click the dvd2xbox.sln file and VISUAL NET should startup and show all code.
5. Try to keep all your code in a folder closest to the root just incase your visual studio wants settings and folders set (thats where it gets a little bit more difficult) e.g. c:\XBOXDEV\dvd2xboxsrc\
Sometimes .net has probs finding the code thats all..
Hopefully it will work first time for you like it did for me..
6. Once it opens you should see all the code in the project on the hierachy on the right. all the .h files and .cpp files! (C++ files)
7. To compile what you just opened to a .xbe do this.
choose 'build' menu from very top of screen and then choose 'build solution'
8. If the code is loaded in correct and you have the XDK install it will create a folder called /debug/ (same folder your source is) and it will give you a .xbe and .exe file.
9. Just copy the .xbe to the xbox and boot and dont forget all the files in the /Media/ folders etc.
You all might see my first XBOX DEMO very very soon (hint hint)...
Ive been working hard learning xbox.. If anyone else can actually code please contact me.. Ive been working alot from my mate 'BEN' from xboxdev.net.. he is a legend at explaining the unexplainable..
