Post subject: Quick question on HD Upgrade using AID

I got my XBOX soft modded with UnleashX about 2 years ago, been mostly just using XMBC.

Just recently I've been reading up on replacing the HD with a 320gb I have spare. Now there are a lot of very clear guides on how to do this but I was hoping on using Auto Installer Deluxe for the simplicity of it all.

My question, in the manual here
http://www.aideluxe.com/index.php?title=AID_Manual_Chapter_6#Format_.2F_Prepare_your_Hard_Drive
it seems to imply that all I'd have to do is take my current HD out of the xbox, put the new HD into the xbox, boot up the xbox, put AID DVD into the xbox which will autoload and take me to that screen. I'm fairly sure I'm wrong here, I'm thinking this will only work as I've described if I had a hardmodded XBOX., maybe not?

Am I correct in assuming my best choice to follow the instructions here
http://www.aideluxe.com/index.php?title=AID_Manual_Appendix_G#Hard_Drive_Upgrade_using_a_PC
first? If so would I ignore the instructions in my first link, when I get to them after?

Many thanks for any help and apologies for asking the basics of you but I honestly can't find a specific answer to this question.

Also, if it makes a difference, I don't have any real need to keep anything from the current XBOX HD. I wouldn't mind a fresh start on the new 320gb and if the upgrade works the original HD will just sit on a shelf on the off chance the 320gb eventually fails

Nice to see you put some time and research in to the question, here is what you are looking for.

Forget the first guide altogether since it is for a chipped xbox, just follow the second guide and you will be good to go.

If any unwanted info carry's over to the new HDD all you will need to do is pop in AID and do a softmod reinstall with your dash of choice to get back to square one.

Good luck. Very Happy
