When I first soft modded my Xbox I tried to think ahead and throw everything into Apps so I could just run it from the default installed. I really liked it and found a Howto on how to make it my default by over writing some files and I've been happy ever since.

Now I am in the clean up mode and would like to move XBMC out of the application folder because I just don't want it there because it looks IMHO tacky on the screen knowing I am already running it. Would I just pull it out and place it in the Root of E: and if so what do I change to point to E:\XBMC opposed to E:\Applications\XBMC\

As well if I was to screw it up could I just run the soft mod with out installing it, gain FTP access off the disk and fix it?

Back up you XBMC user data folder and any scripts, skins and screen savers you have added then use AID soft mod dash installer to make XBMC your default.

Then just FTP in your user data and back up folders to the new build.

So correctly if Im wrong, but you are wanting me to basically Install XBMC using AID which will install other than in Applications. Copy over my custom stuff and walla.

Sounds like a plan. Very Happy

Seems like there would be a config file you could just edit to change the path, but hey I'll follow your method and then experiment later on my second xbox because yes you guys got me addicted. Wink

If you want to edit the file to point to XBMC they have a tool that will build it for you: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/376141

Uh, ok it looks like its more than just editing a .conf file or something. Wink

I'll probably just stick with the easy route and fire up the AID disk.

Thanks for finding that info for me too.

No prob man, thats why i go with the aid install and then update with the old user data folder. Wink

Takes me longer to edit the files and get it all worked out. LOL

Thank GOD for the X-3 chip.
