I softmoded my xbox with SID3.1. The dvd drive would not read the drive, so I plugged in the network cable. The link keeps going up and down. I tried different cables and ports on my router. I am beginning to suspect the xbox NIC.

Is there a known problem with SID 3.1 and the network functionality? I only see the green light on the ethernet port turn on briefly and then turn off. I get an IP address and then the network page says "No Link".

Any ideas or is my xbox hosed?

Hello and welcome to the xbox-hq, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites. Very Happy

Try setting your net work settings to DHCP on the xbox.
