Modded Xbox a couple years ago (SID 5.0 or 4.1 not sure now
Friends clicked on 'xbox live', led went red, error message was shown
Rebooting now start MS dashboard
Deleted SID and Loader from Xbox
Installed SID 5.0.1
Tried to load SID 5.0.1 (AUF007) . The led goes Orange.But game reboots and I never get to the SID installer page.
Tried unpluggin for 4 hours
Just wondering if I am 'toasted' or if I should try other SID versions ?
Or is there a 'soft' way to go to Dashboard when led is Orange ?

Welcome to the HQ man and we hope you enjoy the site.
You might want to go here: http://www.aidtracker.com/ and download aid 4.10 and burn the iso file in it to a cdrw or dvd-r and see if your xbox will boot that first.
Or you can try unhooking the cable from the net and putting in any xboxlive game and act like your logging on to live and see if that will reinstall your MSdash for you.
If it puts the MS dash back then you can resoftmod the xbox.

I think hes talking about what was happening to my friends xbox. When he reinstalled the softmod it doesn't boot up to the softmod dash, it boots to the ms dash. _________________

Ok, more info
- verified no ethernet cable, loaded Halo2, went to Xbox Live, got 'unable to connect' right away, went to troubleshoot -> light led becomes red and got 'BSOD of Xbox' (Contact Service)
- Same behavior if I go to MS Dashboard and attempts to do 'network settings' (red light - BSOD)
Loaded AUF - started mission - quit - loaded save game - Led becomes Orange, game reboots
Will get AID 4.10 and see if it loads from there , thx
PS: without knowing in deatils... my feeling is that the loader loads, starts the Orange led but then a soft reboots occurs (memory pointer lost ? Copy of SID 5.0.1 mod corrupted on HDD ?)

If you cant get aid to launch and fix it you may need to hotswap it to get it working but that will delete any info you saved to the hdd so lets hope that aid will launch.

Xbox boots up, led is green, DVD is accessed (I added the 1gig pad to AID 4.10), MS dashboard comes up and states the DVD is unreadable
Now... this really ticks me off as a hacker !!!
I want to know how the boot software works in xbox (any one has link ?) How the softmod loader and SID work (and why I see the orange led when I load the softmod install but the game reboots) - anyone has link on the code/features of the softmod install ? (yeah I can read C )
If anyone wants me to test a debug version (so we know what is happening), feel free to tell me Cheers and thx ... I may try the HDD hotswap or will got for a modchip later this year...

That sux man, i wold shoot for a chip or if that wold take too long xboxhdm.
I have seen this prob one or 2 times but the fix for it wasent the same for them and it was just one of them things whare thay tryed and tryed till it worked?
If you do shoot for a chip i got an X-2.6 CE setting here if you want to make me a deal.
I wold try xboxhdm and if it dont work then shoot for the chip.
