Hello. I have downloaded the SID 5.01 and studied the tutorial. One thing I am having hard time understanding is whats the different between Standard VS Virtual C/EEPROM- Which is ideal choice for me? What purpose does Virtual serve? What happen if I go to standard?

Also I am going to upgrade the Hard Drive soon, if I happen to choose the Virtual option, will that affect my upgrading as I am ftping the C context- the one that I supposely seeing, is a real or a virtual copy of C? if I copy virtual C, will that affect the funcution of the xbox? I should use the backup copy of EEPROM from E:\, right?

Thanks for your time answering and help me understand this matter.

With the V. C drive you cant see it so you cant delete it but if you know better then to delete it you can go with the other install.

When upgradeing the hdd with Xboxhdm you can use the back up of the eeprom and MS dash if you use the V. C drive.

so if I use the backup of MS dash, does that mean I will not be able to boot the third party dboard? (ex. UnleashX) or do they really keep it the same?

The main thing when upgradeing your hdd is the eeprom, you can put the ms dash from auto installer deluxe on the new hdd if you want.

But if you did put the ms dash on the c drive and softmod it its going to boot the evox or unleash-x dash, the soft mod tells the xbox to look for the evox .xbe so it over looks the ms dash .xbe.

If you want i can post a few links to how to install the softmod and how to use xbox hdm if you havent looked in to it.
Very Happy

I have read through the several guides, its just that the Virtual EEROM/C seems not to take into account in those guide.

I ll make a yes/no question

If i just use the EEPROM from the E:\backup and copy the C:\ and E:\, will it just work (considering its on virtual eeprom/c under softmod)

Yes if you make a copie of the drive as it is now to the new hdd it will work just like the old one but with more space.

thought I would report what is going on here in case someone installed with virtual option.

Just make sure to copy the eeprom from the backup folder, checked.
copied from C and E, checked
make iso, and burn cd, checked.
boot from iso works, but had problem with selecting 1... look like iso is super senstive with what kind of bios you have.
After using another computer to do the job, i noticed that when i boot, softmod's all black, so i boot into ms dash, load the game, redo the softmod, then it works... thats something to consider as FYI to those who want to upgrade HD, make sure you have the softmod tool ready!
