Not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I have got 2 Xbox's. One of them i got not long ago but it has a coma console (it's a 1.2). What i want to do is take the Mod Chip off my working xbox and put it on the broken one so it will work (believe it may work as it will use the chip memory to boot, or something).
The problem is that i then want to softmod the x-chipped xbox but not sure if that will be easy or not. I have kept a copy of the original hard drive image on my computer, so do i just ftp everything over to the x-chipped xbox (before i take the chip out) then take the chip out and when i restart it everything will be glorious? Or is that just too hopeful?

I'm sure i stuck in the chip before and it did something but i didn't carry on as i didn't wanna bugger up the chip and it not work in my working xbox. But yes, i would check that first.

Use a combination of SID and AID, along with your Splinter Cell and gamesave exploit and you'll be up and running before you know it. Softmodding (providing you've got all the bits you need [Splinter Cell, gamesave exploit, mem card or Action Replay/USB drive, SID and AID]) will take you no time at all, and for the most parts, cause you no problems.
All of the boxes I've done are all softmod's and I've never had a single prob with any of them.

I soft modded an xbox a couple of months ago with Splinter Cell and it went perfectly. The only query i had this time round is because the xbox has a mod chip. I'll just turn it off and install the softmod, see what happens. I'll back up the c: and e: drives first of course.
First i'll have to ftp all the stuff on it which will take 25 years so i don't loose anything.

One quick question actually FinalCloud. The xbox i am going to softmod has a 120gig hard drive in it, when i softmod it will i need to do anything else or does it not matter as the hard drive works in there anyway?

As long as you make sure both F and G drives are enabled it'll be fine. I have a 160Gb in mine, and no special setup was required in order to get it to work.
You'll find SID will do most of the work for you, so there's very little you'll need to do.

Thats ok then.
Just put the chip in the broken xbox and the msdash boots up now Downloading AID 4.10 + 4.11 and i'll use that to install XBMC on them both. Have already got SID 5.
Do i enable the F drive within AID? I take it when i install the softmod it will wipe everything on there already?
Have convinced the wife to put one of them in our bedroom so that she can watch her episodes of Brothers and Sisters on it, as well as me playing FIFA 2007 aswell, but i didn't mention that part.
The only thing now is sorting out my router. I have a BT Voyager 2091 that i unlocked and i wanted to use it as a bridge and stick it on the xbox. Is it easy to do?
By my understanding i need the router downstairs as an access point, which it is, turn DHCP off and have static IP addresses on everything, have the gateway for the bridge set as the access point IP and the gateway for the xbox going to the bridge IP. Am i close?

When aid or sid is being set up it will have an option in the set up for your hdd size and that will add your F and G drive, if you dont see the drive on the file manager you can enable them in your dash settings.
The setup im running has a linksys router and i setup like so.
Router is set to hand out IPs (DHCP)
modem to router, then xbox set to DHCP and wired to router.
My 2 PCs one wired set to dhcp, one wireless DHCP.
