Okay I'm planning on installing an Xecuter 3CE Modchip into my Xbox and then upgrading the Hard Disk Drive. Over the past week or so I have been researching tutorials and gathering information on the whole process. Pretty much the only thing I have left to do is burn the Auto Installer Deluxe 4.02 CD/DVD, but I need a few questions answered first if you wouldn't mind. After I install my new Hard Disk Drive (with nothing on it) I plan to insert the Auto Installer Deluxe CD/DVD and use it to set up my new hard drive (since Auto Installer Deluxe pretty much has everything) The nly problem is I don't know what to burn a CD or a DVD (I've never burned one in my life). I'm pretty sure CD's can only hold like 600 MB or something (am I right) and DVD's can hold like 3.5 GB (I could be way off). It would make sense for me to use a DVD because the ISO file alone is over 1 GB. I have the ISO file updated with all the addon packs and updates for 4.01 and 4.02. Now this is where I'm stuck. I've seen stuff on the Internet about when you make an Xbox DVD you need to change the ISO to an XISO and then rename the executable file default.xbe because that's what the Xbox looks for. The Auto Installer Deluxe Manual makes no mention of this though. Also, I don't understand dummy files at all. Do you apply them to the ISO to account for the space you don't use on the CD/DVD because I've seen 100 MB, 500 MB, and 1 GB dummy addons for the Auto Installer Deluxe.
If someone could clear all this up for me that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance _________________ |Xbox|NTSC|Version 1.1|Hardmodded with Xecuter 3CE Chip and Xapt3r Solderless Kit|Seagate 320 GB Hard Disk Drive|Phillips DVD Drive|Running Xbox Media Center Dashboard with MC360 Skin|

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I do understand there are different types of CD's and DVD's like the DVD+R or whatever. I have a Phillips DVD Drive if that helps any. It would help if you could tell me what you used and if it worked or not (like a personal experience lol). Whoaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Slow down there. First thing you want to do is mod the xbox with the current drive and I'll tell you why. All the stock information is on the current drive like the most important which is your EEPROM.
Mod your xbox, then just clone your HDD to the new with with the upgrade, The last thing you want is to lose that info.
Now as for burning AID. You want to use DVD-R. I use Sony or HP. Once you have extracted the ISO, use the updater to add anything that you might want and dont forget the dummy file, I use the 1gb. Then burn at the SLOWEST speed. I use either DVD Decrypter or IMG Burn. Once you install the chip you flash it with your bios, then turn on and boot AID.
Install your dash and apps and thats all.
Let us know how it goes. _________________

cd's are usually 700 mb, and dvd single layer is 4.7 gigs, and dual layer is 8.5 gigs
you just need the single layer for xbox modding and backing up.
ps. different drives prefer different media.
samsungs and / or philips are the most flexible. the thompson drives can be picky and slow.

no need once the chip and HDD are installed, install evox dash and run the evox backup option. Backs up eeprom info and HDD unlock code, etc

Thanks for the information guys I've done some more research and I basically no everything about modding that I need to know. The only thing left to do is take action. I only have one more question. I'm trying to restore the Microsoft Dashboard to my current Xbox Hard Disk Drive (It's Softmodded), but on the C Drive there is 0.00 MB Free. Is there a way to "Repartition" your Xbox Hard Disk Drive? Can I make more space available on the C Drive becasue I want the Microsoft Dashboard back before I install my Modchip. I believe Auto Installer Deluxe can do this. I'm just checking. IF YOU ANSWER THIS QUESTION I'LL BASICALLY BE DONE ANNOYING YOU WITH NOOB QUESTIONS ON THE FORUMS ALL THE TIME. If thats not an incentive I don't know what is haha. _________________ |Xbox|NTSC|Version 1.1|Hardmodded with Xecuter 3CE Chip and Xapt3r Solderless Kit|Seagate 320 GB Hard Disk Drive|Phillips DVD Drive|Running Xbox Media Center Dashboard with MC360 Skin|

first off man, dont worry about asking questions. thats the whole point of this forum. there are alot of folks that enjoy answering questions and helping guys out that are just getting started.
but you cant change the size of the C drive, but when you put your mod chip in, you can reinstall the MS 5960 dash from the aid disc. you will format the hdd anyways when you are preparing it for install with the aid disc. so dont worry about it now, you will be able to add the MS dash when you install everything with the disc.

Sorry Joho5, but I didn't understand anything you just typed. I need the Microsoft Dashboard back on my C Drive so I can uninstall my softmod and go online and get Halo 2 Maps and then reinstall my softmod and transfer them to my PC so I can transfer them back onto my new Hard Disk Drive once I install it. Now how do I do this could you make it a little more noob friendly sorry lol. Can I use an Auto Installer Deluxe disc to format my Hard Disk Drive and reinstall the Microsoft Dashboard that way? Thanks in advance. _________________ |Xbox|NTSC|Version 1.1|Hardmodded with Xecuter 3CE Chip and Xapt3r Solderless Kit|Seagate 320 GB Hard Disk Drive|Phillips DVD Drive|Running Xbox Media Center Dashboard with MC360 Skin|

Wow... that seems like more trouble then its worth .Especially since I doubt there are going to be anymore halo maps. You mentioned you have a 360 too. Why not just stick to using that for live? _________________

Yeah I just realized how much trouble that would be after I typed it lol. So I decided to screw Xbox Live on my normal Xbox and just keep play it on my Xbox 360. They came out with two new maps for Halo 2 recently and I wanted those in case any mods for them came out then I was just like "Yeah I don't care that much its too much trouble." _________________ |Xbox|NTSC|Version 1.1|Hardmodded with Xecuter 3CE Chip and Xapt3r Solderless Kit|Seagate 320 GB Hard Disk Drive|Phillips DVD Drive|Running Xbox Media Center Dashboard with MC360 Skin|
