Question i have booted up EvolutionX on my xbox through a bootdisk. But it only works through a boot disk. when i transfered the files to my hardrive a screen comes up telling me to get technical support. Throughout this whole process it would not allow me to flash the bios.

Also when i go to flash the bios with an M7 bios is says:

Flash BIOS
Manufactorers ID 09 Device ID 00
!! Flash Not Writable !!

how can i upgrade my bios considering that i have an executer 1 modchip. And will this allow me to them copy EvoX to my hardrive with suceess.

I know that this might not be an easy question but if anyone can help i would be very gratefull.
Thank You!

Welcome Paulos!

I'm not familiar with the early Xecuters, but I'm sure someone will respond soon who does. Does it have a switch to protect/unprotect banks, preventing you from flashing it?

Do you get the error screen which the chip on, off, or both? Have you previously had this Xbox working with Evox? What are your dashboards named?

What error code are you getting when it tells you your machine needs service.

The fact that you are able to boot the disk tells me your modchip already has a hacked bios on it. Otherwise, the disk would not be read and it wouldn't boot.

The reason it isn't coming up when disk is not in there is because file names or location most likely.

You need to know where your bios is pointing to for the dashboard. I would bet you are getting error code 13 or 21??

Let me know

Paulos,

Why would you want to FLASH your modhcip bios when it obviously is working fine and booting backups and unsigned code?

Upgrading your bios will not give you any more features on your xbox..
If your xbox is running fine and playing backups etc etc then i would just suggest you upgrade your evox dashboard using our XBOX HQ AUTO INSTALLER..

Get the Autoinstaller from here:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/Bittorrent.html

or signup as a VIP member and download it from our server..

The Auto Installer makes it easy for newbies.. All you have to do is burn the .iso to CDRW/DVD-r and boot it in your xbox. Then follow the easy onscreen instructions to copy all the latest files onto your xbox..

anyway, i thought i had better add to this one..

IF YOUR BIOS AINT BROKE.. DONT FIX IT!

Firsly thanks for the replies.

Basically the problem isn't that the screen comes up with the technical support cause i just use the original xbox files to replace them but instead it is that the bios cannot be written on.

I do not have a switch on my xbox so the chip is constantly running and when i use the EvoX V+3935 boot disk it won't allow me to flash it.

Now i'm not sure weather or not my chip is write protected but the reason i want to flash my bios is because a couple of games do not load or work!

Finally when i use the EvoX boot disk i copied the files and folders of it on my xbox through a FTP programme hoping that it would load EvoX as a default setting instead of the Original Xbox Dashboard or the technical problem screen. But it does not. Do u need to flash the bios to get EvoX to work as a default dashboard?? Thats all i know.

Thanks again as all your opinions are very helpful and greatly appreciated!!! Very Happy

please someone correct me if I am wrong for I am still a padawan n00b, but..

before the xecuter 2.x? did you need to take the chip out to flash it. I dont think you can flash it from the DVD/CDROM? from what I have been reading they finally added that in the 2.x series (2.3 or 2.6?)...

just my guess though? can anyone comfirm or deny that?

that may be the reason why it says its protected.

I'm no expert, but like RM said, the BIOS is looking for a specific file name for the dashboard it first loads... I looked through your posts and I didn't catch what BIOS you actually have in your chip. What are the file names of your MS dash and your EvoX dash?

The games you can't run... are you sure it's a BIOS issue and not an "I need a patch" issue?

I just got done reading several posts about the X1 on TeamXecuter's website... they all seem to indicate that the X1 is NOT flashable, so I guess you're stuck with the BIOS you have if you're stuck with the X1. What about a new chip?

You need to upgrade your chip....

If the Xecuter 2.3's aren't flashable from the dvdrom drive, then I betcha the 1x weren't either...

And like 'Xboxter' said, it looks like they came preflashed anyway...

It is possible to FTP evox files to your C drive....my bet is your files on HD are still screwed up.

later man

I have the X 1 modchip also and have had no problems with it at all. It is indeed unflashable so don't even think about it. The next thing you should do is use the autoinstaller from this website. I have had only excellent results using this mod chip. I sugggest you boot up the Evox autoinstaller and try that. If you still can't do it read the guide on this site for installing Evox it's great. I am a newbie to the max so I know your frustration. I have got every single game to boot using this chip so the bios you have are fine, so even if you could I wouldn't change them anyway.
Good Luck
