Hi guys,
Huge apologies in advance as I am more than likely posting in the wrong place and asking a question that has already been asked but I have searched like hell for an answer and can't find it.
I already have a softmodded XBOX which I did myself with some help from this fantastic site. However, I decided to buy another Xbox with the intention of also soft modding it and putting it in a different room.
When it was delivered today (it's 2nd hand) I booted it up and to my delight it loaded into the EVOX dash. "Hoorah!" I thought. No need to softmod it as it's already done.
I wanted the Unleash X Dash on so I put in my AID disc and installed the dash to the C drive. When i rebooted it came up with the EVOX dash. So i tried installing the UnleashX dash onto the E drive. Same thing again. Which is making me think that the dash must be loading from somewhere else, like a chip.
I've tried to find out if it is chipped without opening it up. I did a bios check with an application that was already on the system and it told me that I had a "Xenium Clone".
I've no idea what the hell is going on really as I only know the soft mod side of things. So is there a way to find out for sure if it is chipped or if it is a soft mod.
Also, If it is chipped can I force it to use the UnleashX dash or am I stuck with the EVOX dash?
Any help would be hugely appreciated!!!!

Your not stuck.
Install unleashx as an app, then use the file explorer in that(or the one on AID) to find the file called evoxdash.xbe. If it is chipped, the evox dash may be in a subdirectory, not necessarily in the root of a partition. So find out whereever it is, and install unleashx there. _________________
Greven, Thanks man. I had a look around using AID's file manager and found the evox dash in a sub folder. I installed UnleashX as an application and then moved it over to the sub directory and hey presto it works.
It's now loading up UnleashX every time which is what I wanted.
Thanks very much for that info mate. I appreciate it. Just one more thing.....
Does this mean it's chipped because the dash was in a sub folder. I'm still struggling to tell the difference between this one and my soft modded one downstairs. They seem identical but the new one's file structure is different for example with the dash.

Yeah, likely it is chipped.
If you don't want to open the xbox to look at the LPC holes, you can try to judge from a few things:
Do you have have a config.ini file sitting in the root of E If you do that means there is a 5035 bios, which probably means chip unless you have a 1.0 or 1.1(someone correct me, but those were the only ones with 1mb bios, yes?). If you have a 1.0 or a 1.1, it might actually be a TSOP flash, as these versions can hold the size needed for the bios.
If you don't have a config.ini, you might still be TSOP flashed with a Evox BIOS, but that seems unlikely since Evox dash reported a Xenium fake bios.
If you want to open the case, you can look underneath the DVD drive to see if there is anything sticking out of the board with wires soldered to the mobo. If there is, its chipped. You then may want to identify the type of chip, because you may be able to upgrade/use it to its full potential. _________________
Thanks again for the reply Greven. Much apprecviated.
Well I checked the root of the E drive and there is no config.ini file. Infact there are no loose files on the root of E. Just folders.
So I decided to open the case, but would you believe that the only two torx missing out of my set are the ones I need lol. So I can't get in the machine without going out and buying another torx set which I cant be arsed to do right now.
Not sure where that leaves me to be honest. If this system is chipped then I'd like to push it to it's limits and fit a much bigger hard drive etc. If it's softmodded then I'll keep working on my other xbox downstairs.
Is there no tell tale signs other than the ones you mentioned. I thoguht there would be a big difference between the chipped boxes and the softmods. _________________ http://www.breakbeat-terrorism.co.uk

Booting with the ejct button makes no difference at all. The system still boots to the UnleashX dash I installed in the same way it would if I just hit the power button. _________________ http://www.breakbeat-terrorism.co.uk

Oh and ignore that info on the left about my XBOX. I didn't write that anywhere on this site so I dont know how it got there.
I'm computer literate but this site confises the hell out of me. IMG tags wont work for me, cant find out where to put my avatar in, xbox data has appeared under my username. Grrrr _________________ http://www.breakbeat-terrorism.co.uk
