You guys must be sick of noob questions. I started modding this year and can't believe the progress I've made - all thanks to you guys and your tutorials and manuals.
AID3 is awesome, and I'd just like to say "THANKS" to all who made it possible, those months of tedium are sincerely appreciated by morons like myself.
There is nothing like a modded box available anywhere at any price, I bet Bill is saying "Why didn't MS think of that?". Plain and simply, You guys have made them look silly and I'v yet to see a blue screen .
My noob questions:
How do I password a modded box? unmodded box? - my 6yr old loves Doom3 at 3am when wer'e sleeping.
When is someone gonna post a list of the available modchips and their correct bioses? if so - where?
When are you guys gonna write a 360 emulator for Xbox? or is it impossible to "detune" the games without rewriting them.
Thanks again

1) If your using unleashx you can put a password in your main menu. if your not you cna try to use xselect.
2) There are several lists of modchips, but most can use any bios available. There are only a coupld prorietary bioses(x3 3294 comes to mind).
3) First there would have to be a usable way to run emulators, which there is currently not. The only way to run an emulator that I have heard of was a Java NES emulator that ran through Windows media center and could be streamed to the 360. You may want to look at http://www.360-hq.com/ for more info. _________________

Thanks Greven -
1)I will try unleashedX again - where is the password util? or must I right click somewhere . Is it possible to password individual games/apps?
2)Modchips - not all bioses are the same/equal - One that works 100% on a DuoX2 crashes a GS chip etc. I gave up trying them as it just causes headaches. I want to experiment with xecuter and aladin chips but dont want the same hassles.
3) Doom3 was written for PC by ID, HL2, NFS etc,etc - the xbox version is cut down and reverse engineered to run flawlessly on an xbox. Surely there may be a way to do the same to get 360 games running on an xbox? I'm worried the xbox will be phased out completely and end up in the same place as my 486 PC!.
4) Would it be possible for a company, ie xecuter to manufacture an upgraded & modded replacement M/B for the 1.6 which could run like/better than a 360? Say a P4 chip & 256MB GPU & dual ATA for example? Would it put the 360 out of business? or have I just answered my previous question?

For question 3, that wont be possible, the 360 has a differnt processor core and grafix core, so a 360 game on a normal xbox would just freeze or not run at all..
And 4 you might as well put the 360 guts in the xbox, it would cost you more to replace for that kind of upgrade than buying a 360. _________________

As for the first two, this is what I have done:
Download through FTP the config.xml file found in your unleashx directory(probably E. Edit it an add a parent layer to the xml.
So, if the <Menu> section of your config file were to look like:

Thanks for that, you should paste that into a tutorial - there must be plenty gys with young kids, also brothers who like deleteting their saves etc.
How about adding it to AID3.05 as an option? maybe make it possible to add onto any submenu in UnleashX or EvoX.
I'v had tons of guys wanting this feature and I'm sure most will welcome it - even as an anti-theft measure.
I kneel in the shadow of your expertise

Lol, rise my son! j/k.
I could throw it together into a tutorial, might be a little short, but sure.
If you have download AID3.0X I can show you how to create an option in the menus to install a passworded config file. _________________

I'v updated AID to 3.04, but haven't burnt it as there are some changes I want to make first.
Adding it in as an option would make my life a lot easier and keep a few guys out of divorce court she'll never stumble into my pawn collection again!

Thanks Greven for pointing me in the right direction.
I'v always used Slayers EvoX installer till now and made plenty skins etc (a lot on Slayers are too big = don't work & the menu's sukd).
I sat with a softmodder who runs UnleashX for hours and he couldn't find anything, so there was no reason to RTFM on UnleashX. I did RTFM and it's interesting to see that <password =""> can be used almost anywhere.
Her kids won't be amused but that's tough!! - I'll leave Emus open for them.
Only now I'll have to figure out how to make Unleashed skins.
I like the idea of putting 360 internals into the old box - that would confuse the hell out of everybody, bit like putting a blown 454 in a mini!
When are modchips going to be available for the 360?
I bought 4 scrap boxes today for spares (All have major track damage by another "modder?") Whats the easiest way to unlock the 4 drives?
Cheers from N.Z.
