Hey all, need some input. I am modding a members Xbox and it is a 1.0 with a Phillips drive. I cannot get this puppy to read any of my DVD+R's, or CDRW's
Can anybody furnish me with a particular brand name that they are using.
I am astonished. I just did a 1.4 with a Phillips and it read my disks fine. That really throws me for a loop as I thought a Phillips is a Phillips is a Phillips.
Anyway, off to Wal mart to buy more brands.

Sounds like the DVDROM is pretty worn out too..
Does the xbox owner use it for watching movies (DVD MOVIES)? I found a few older xboxes that are used all the time as a DVD Player do get worn out..
They dont burn out but just start having problems reading..
Like i said to you earlier.. I had a v1.0 xbox with a phillips and sold it because of all the troubles i was having.. My mate is still using it with no probs but if you want to flash etc and burn CDRW's its gonna have a hell of a time.
Personally, i would pull apart YOUR OWN xbox with the SAMSUNG drive in it and put it into this xbox to get it flashed..
You will find that the PHILLIPS drive wont have any problems reading a DVD-R.. The only DVD-RW i could get working was a PIONEER in my phillips.

hey whats up i was just browsing through the forum when i came across this topic i just flashed my modchip 2 days ago and i have a phillips dvd drive i used a memorex cd-rw but there are 2 types thers are 24x speed for burning and 4x you want to get the pack with only the 4x burning speed because the slower the speed the better your dvd drive will read the cd.i only had to do it one time it read my cd perfectly with no problems.
