Ok, I softmodded for the first time yesterday. I didn't use a pc, i used my chipped box to transfer gamesaves via unleashX. I used splinter cell and Nknave's Softmod Installer 6.6.6 Final.
When I select the game save, it will load up unleashX installer menu. I backed up my MS dash and epprom. I selected dual boot closed=unleashX.
Ok, softmod installed. Press yes to turn system off. When I try to power on with either power or eject, I just get a black screen, no errors or anything. What's wrong? I'm sure it's something simple.
Original games still boot, but my AID 3.02 dvd-r won't boot. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Solved: instaled a pinheader and x3, formatted and installed ms dash via aid 3.02, installed softmod installer files (sid 4.5). Worked like a charm. Thanks to everyone who helped. _________________

I'd try the softmod again but with the 3.1 copy this time. it seems to work better for me

I think the problem is with the softmod itself. My aid 3.02 disk boots fine in my other thompson drive.
Update: now games won't boot. Just the black screen after the bios flubber animation. Looks like I'll be installing a chip. Softmods are officially not my friend... I just wanted to test the waters with the whole softmodding thing. From now on, I'm sticking to what works. Modchips. _________________

Softmods are tricky. SID 4.5 always works for me. You might have used the PAL version instead. idk, or it could be the files were corrupt. Well I have never had problems except with SID 3.1. Never has worked for me. _________________ Moddingbandit

It's probably corrupt files. I was using a mad catz 8mb? Mem card. I read you tut bandit, the sid 4 install. I'm positive I used the ntsc splinter cell zip. Or else the unleashx screen prob. would have been scrolling/unreadable. It happened the fist time I tried to install it. So I loaded the SC game again and deleted the softmod. I tried to install again and same thing. I should have ftped and loaded a working ms dash while I could still get to unleashx to load. Oh well, might try with a different save file when I restore it with a chip. _________________
