I am conifident in softmodding with my mechassualt sid 3.0 and using my aid 2.11 final disk and everything sounds good with moving to 4.5 but the whole dashboard installation process with the aid 3.0 disk. I know that I make a bigger deal out of things then I need to but I am not understanding how I install the dash. Has anyone made a step by step, click here, choose this tuitorial for installing xbmc as a dashboard with sid 4.5 and aid 3.0? I have everything ready to go , i just dont know wether to install a hacked dash to e and a normal to c or vice versa - it was so easy with sid 3.0 ( i would go to softmod menu and choose nkpatcher, then softmod menu and dash board!!) Now I think that I have to install softmod and choose a regular .. .... O crap, I dont know -- what do I do to do this ??
If this was some joes xbox it would be no prob , but im gonna test this out on my older brothers xbox that I respect tremendously -- maybe I should stick to the old one..

welcome to xbox-hq bro!... now softmod is fairly easy everytime
i say u just need 1 of the exploiable game , ur ar , sid 4 .0 and aid 3 ..
now sid 4 is scritp so u wont mess up ur box ... so for say if u dont back up ur ms back up then u cant instal softmod...
all in word dont freak out and just get stuff i just metioned...

Im not sure if I was descriptive enough in what I was asking. Sorry. What I was asking is what do you click on in order to install xbcm as the only dash when you get to the point of putting aid 3.0 into the xbox (after you successfully load your save game and run it) I have done a softmod with sid 3.1 and aid 2.11 final but not witih the new system. Installling dashboards seem a little more confusing with the new one. Has anyone done it yet, and if so what did you do step by step. MAKE A STEP BY STEP GUIDE PLEASE!!

I have downloaded both sid 4.5 and aid 3.0 and read the full pdf manuals for both. They are great. But they are still not clear on how to install a dashboard for a softmodded xbox. I thinik both those manuals would help to have a step by step guide because neither of them have that.
On sid 3.1 and aid 2.11 final, you would simply click on the softmod section then click on install npkapther + ms dash and then click on install softmod dashboard. The aid 3.0 disk is NOT LIKE THAT. It is way different. That is what Im asking. If anyone has done this, please post detailed instructions on what they clicked inside of AID 3.0.
I do appreciate the replies that I have gotten this far. I check this post several times a day!! But if someone out there is willing to be a little more descriptive on how they installed sid 4.5 and then prepared there xbox with aid 3.0 with a xbmc as a dashboard i would be willing to become a lifetime member, but as of this point everyone is very helpful but vague.

So do I install just a regular dashboard then. Do I format prepare my hard drive first and then do this. It sounds like I just install a regular dashboard by your description. Maybe it really is that simple, but that would not have worked with aid 2.11. There is a tuitorial for that disk that is very clear. You must format your c partition , reinstall the softmod, then choose a softmod dash.
There seemed to be several options for dashboards on aid 3.0 and it seemed that you could put a normal dash onto E drive. Is that what you were saying? I dont need a hacked dash now? If so, that is great. I'll just install sid 4.5 with my mega x key and then load aid 3.0 and click on load dashboard and choose xbmc. But I do feel that it is a bit more complex than that, and I may have to choose hacked dashboard and choose the loader thing?
In looking at the aid 3.0 manual again. It looks like what I want is to go to prepare hard drive and click on "install ms 5690 dash" and then go to softmod dashboard menu and click on "install softmod dashes" and then choose xbmc dhcp on c. Will that overide what I have done with dashboard choosing with the sid 4.5 installation or do I have to match the choice I made when I installed sid 4.5?
The manual for sid4.5 is not descriptive as of what to do once the you get the sid 4.5 menu up . I can see there is a button that says "install softmod" Now on 3.1 when you clicked on that button, what would happen is it would ask you to choose a dashboard and then you would have to install evolution x after wards. Do you have to do that this time too?

ok first choose what softmod u plan on keeping..... i perfer 4.0 if u are kinda noob... 4.5 if ur pal or u plan on going to xbox live....
once u do the softmod then u can run aid 3 .... then just choose softmod dashboards.... then choose xbmc..... its that simple... but i think u should softmod it via 4.0 just to be on the safe side.... _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

I installed the save game from the 4.5 nknave distro onto my mega x key. I did the loader save game and the mechassult save game. With this save game, do I have the option to install 4.0 instead of 4.5?
I appreciate the replies, i need to make sure that I dont respond when I first get up as I can be long winded and jumbled.

no if u get the 2 files that are 4.5 then u get 4.5 if u have the 4.0 then they are the 4.0 files....
once u have the files on ur mem card then make sure to delete the old files related to the older mod...... but remove them properly.... so in other words uninstall softmod .......

What is the difference between 4.0 and 4.5? I am an experienced softmodder (despite my redundant beginner questions) so if it is the eeprom backup feature that make the difference then Im not inclined to use 4.0. I havnt done this softmod yet, Im in the process of getting ready to do it.
Ya see, I have softmodded about 12 boxes with the sid 3.0 and I want to try out the 4.5 but I was just conecerned about how to install dashes. I have that cleared up now.
I do have a question about the aid now. Can i format my drive with aid and resoftmod right there? I know that the 4.5 will not let you softmod if you dont have a ms dash to back up correct? so if I softmodded and then put in the aid 3.0 disk and chose format / prepare hd then I would be screwed right?
Then again, Im still wondering if I should just go ahead and use 4.5 instead of 4.0 because im pretty sure that the only difference is that 4.5 doesnt force you to do a virtual eeprom right?

well see that is the thing ... the nice thing about the sid 4 .0 and 4.5 that it is script so u wont mess up ... so for say u mod for some1 else and he she doesnt know crap about this and trys to delete a dash the rescue dash loads and error 22 runs and they press A and evertyin back to mod normal.....
now like i said 4.0 has more safetly ooptions.... while 4.5 is for xbox live users and for pal users ....
