ok Idk if this has already been answered but I a have looked. I recently(last night) was using AID and all worked perfectly but I screwed it up so now I'm buying modchip. well to my point: with a modchip can u have multiple dashes and still have the m$dash as well. I have always used evox but now that im gettin' a chip I want more options you know?
O and what are bios and what does flashing the bios mean? Im new to chips so I dont undersand much about them.

Readers Digest version of multiple dashes, yes you can.
I use XBMC but I have access to Evox and Avalaunch too through programs on a different drive.
Bios flashing is a way of taking control of the chip and therefore the Xbox.
The chip bypasses the chip on the Xbox, when flashed (or installed) on your chip, it allows you to run with the xbox hdd unlocked if you wish.
Easier to recover boo boo's too.

ok what is xbmc? i hate to be stupid. SO when I get my chip is there a way to know what bios you'll need or will it come with it? and will how do i check my version of my xbox. bc i think its 1.6 but idk. ok I forgot the name of the chip i might be gettin but i think its like xenium gold sp or sumthin like that. its compatible with all versions but i want to leave nuthing to chance. I appreciate all help.
edit: where can i get a program for multi dashes?

Whoops, sorry, I was chatting in lingo and I need to stop.
XBMC = Xbox Media Center. It's a dashboard like Evox (not to be confused with the Evox Bios) or Avalaunch.
There are multiple ways to id your Xbox, some require cracking the case and some don't.
At this moment there are 8 main versions of Xbox.
The xbox v1.0 , v1.1, v1.2, v1.3, v1.4, v1.5, v1.6 and v1.6b.
Here's how you can tell without opening the Xbox.
Start up the M$ dash, go to info, let it scroll will all the dogcrap until you see a K and an N with numbers.
The K number tells you the version of Xbox.
There are 9 kernel/bios versions of XBOX.
xbox v1.0 : 3944 (usa only) , 4034 , 4036 , 4627
xbox v1.1 : 4817, 4972
xbox v1.2-1.5 :5101, 5713
xbox v1.6 : 5838
You will most likely see a K5838
While you are waiting for the chip... go get Auto Installer Deluxe 2.1.1.
It has all the bioses you need plus all the dashes.

well i appreciate your help on this matter but that is precisely the reason I am getting a chip. I was using AID and I was messing around with it and I tried to install UX and M$dash and i guess i tried to install the chipped dash and i rebooted my box and it said error 21. otherwise i would nvr deal with a chip. so until then there is nothing i can really do. But would trying to install UX and ms dash chipped cause my xbox to die? bc i 4got to install xselect as well.

yes i can still load retail games but for some reason i tried to load splinter cell again for the origianl exploit but for a long time splinter cell would restart . Idk if its the disc or just the way it is. have you heard of a disc to do that and a diff. disc work? how else would i fix it?

i know its alive but what is mech warrior? I know mechassault, splinter cell, and 007 AUF. Is this a new exploit? but yes i can get the mech. if need be.

Doh.. caught me in a hurry. Sorry I meant mechassault. I was thinking Lone Wolf and that won't work.
I'd try to get ahold of mechassault, perhaps rent it? It's got to be the original and not "classics" or some such thing.

Same as before, no live needed.
