I was in the process of making a new xbox hd from scratch i saved all my files from softmodded xbox to my pc. put my backup eeprom, all contents of C and E in xboxhdm_v1.9 and created a image and burned it to cd-rw. After going through all the steps i went to lock my hard drive. i was booting it from a floppy so it could save a log of my HD pass. i locked the hd put it in xbox and it wouldnt boot up. come up with a error contact tech support or something. so i took it out planning on unlocking it and trying it again but i cant unlock it. i have tried atapwd useing password XBOXSCENE and try to put in my HD pass saved to the floppy from when i locked the hard drive which was ..

it errors out everytime i try to unlock. when i setup the lock it asked me for a password i typed xbox and it also saved that log on my floppy. i tried useing all the passwords i got but no luck. how can i get my hard drive unlocked? its a seagate 40 GB ST340012A. i think it put my xbox eeprom onto this hard drive (is that what its suppose to do)? iv tried putting the HD pw i got from my xbox hard drive and that wont work either. any suggestions??
i left my xbox HD untouch in case i screwed something up and i just put it back in it and it works fine. i just need this seagate unlocked otherwise its a paperweight.

11. Now for locking the hard drive. This time type ‘3’ and hit enter to boot linux with locking/unlocking utilities. Next, type in ‘lockhd -a’. It will now search for the eeprom on the CD and will automatically lock the hard drive. Now turn off the PC and take out the hard drive when it has finished locking. Put the disk in your softmodded xbox .
instead of putting lockhd -a from the disk i used lockhd from the floppy which did not load my xbox eeprom. so how would i got about unlocking this hard drive?

i understand put lockhd -a but i read somewhere its best to you the floppy since it will save the log file to it in case you loose your HD password. it probally woulda worked fine if i woulda used the eeprom from my original xbox but i didnt. is there anyway to unlock this seagate so i can try again?
like i said the password it gave me when i locked it was..

tried useing unlockhd -a from the disk but it uses the password from my xbox eeprom. and since i used it on the floppy (like a dummy) i didnt load the eeprom from the disk. it just locked the HD on the default hard drive pass. got that password but wont unlock.

hmm it cannot formate if its locked... ??? hmm never tryied it .... i guess ur screwd prety much.. ( is it a new hd ??? if they stil sell it then buy it new n swap them and say it dont work and get money back... other then taht ur gonna have 2 get the eeprom from floopy or somtin .. idk i never ran into that prob as i never USE FLOPY to generate code!!! _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

its a old drive iv had for 2 years only 40 gb so im really not out a lot. i got a 1gb Hd out of a old computer im gonna test with. and if it works ok then ill go buy me a new one. can bet you i wont use the floppy again. piirup was suppose to be writing a tutorial on how to unlock retail hard drives. ever heard anything from that?

since i have my key from the text on the floppy do you think i could create a eeprom.bin with that key and put it in the eeprom folder (create eeprom with liveinfo) and try unlockhd -a. or would it be the same thing as me just typing in the code myself?

it just puzzles me why i cant unlock it when the master password was suppose to be xboxscene and i have my HD key. im thinking when i do it again if i use the lockhd -a from the disk it will then work in my xbox but im wondering if i will ever be able to unlock it to use it elsewhere. have you tried to unlock yours with the hd key?

got to be a way to unlock the hard drive without the password maybe not saving the data for security reasons but there has to be something that will unlock and erase

i have the password but it wont unlock the drive. it saved my password on the floppy in a text. it says my password is..

however i think its not my password because i think it should be 32 charecters. i dunno what to do.
