hallo all.i have a problem with my moded xbox.
i had a chip installed about a year ago.so far everything worked out fine.a couple of days ago i used a lens cleaner cd and since then it doesn't play any games.most of the times it doesn't even see the disc.nor games or audio cds.it just goes to the screen with the options(memory, music etc)
i'm desperate and the worst i'm newbie to all these.plus i have just moved to another country and i don't have the luxury of going to the guy that moded it.
any clues ? as for the chip the only thing i know is that since i had it installed on the upper left screen corner it show an evo-x sign

Using a lens cleaner will not effect the chip turning on. Although it might have damaged the lens. I hate to say it but you might have a loose connection on your chip if it is booting to the M$ screen. The not reading the game part sounds like a bad dvd drive. You might have to open your xbox and see if anything is loose.

Sounds like the alignment of the lens is knocked out. You might simply try using one of those compressed air units that come in a can and see if the cleaning brush managed to stuff a bunch of lint or something in the servo. It just might do it. Otherwise, it's time to crack the box I suspect.

ok i opened the xbox.all the solderings on the chip seem good.i also opened the dvd drive.the lens is clean.i don't know if needs alligning or sth.i puted the xbox back together(thanx to the tutorials) and still nothing.doesn't play original nor copied games Sad

is there a chance the chip is done?what about the flashing thing i've read about?what does it exactly do and is there a chance it might help my case?

Open the DVD player and pull back the laser... being careful not to touch the lens thus avoiding greasy fingers on it...
Anyway pull it out and push it back in a couple of times...
The DVD player will recalibrate the lens to the correct position when you turn on the xbox with the DVD player back in...
