Ok guys,
Before someone starts saying that I need to do some research and read forum topics and whatnot, trust me, I've spent the last 36 hours researching, reading THOUSANDS of forum topics from xbmc's site to xbox-scene, to here and nothing has helped me so far. Here's the deal.....(gonna be a long one)
1. my WIRELESS computer has a static ip address of 192.168.2.2.
2. my xbox has a static ip of 192.168.2.3
3. my routers address is 192.168.2.1
First off, I setup the settings WITHIN xbmc to enable SMB sharing and whatnot, told it my router's IP was 192.168.2.1 even listed my password and username so it wouldn't have a problem. Well, that didn't work, so I decided to try and edit the xml file. Did everything I was supposed to, still nothing........Every time I would try and access the SMB share, it would show my computer, even my workgroup, but it would ask for a F*CKING username and password, even if I entered the right username and password, it would just keep asking me for it.
So I got fed up with trying to set that up, so I decided to try Relax over XNS server. Well, set all that up right, and it even listed my shares and the files within it, nothing.........
Yes, I have all firewalls disabled on my computer and my router, but it still isn't working. Just basically wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and what they did to fix it. Thanks guys. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

first question, did you set folders that are shared? well i updated my XBMC with a newer one and couldn't get worksgroups to work again, so i rolled back to XBMC offa AID 1.01 and my workgroup works straight off the install without setting anything. i know that wasn't much help but i couldn't get it to work off the newer XBMC's at all either

Holy crap Shortacid, I download that program, I ran it, drop my share folders into the GUI, went to XBMSP or whatever Auto-discover and BAM! it worked! It seems a little slow, I noticed a "LITE" version, would that be a little quicker? But anyways, it works, I'm happy! Thanks a ton man! _________________ XBOX v1.6c

Still Man, I can't thank you enough, I was getting so frustrated with my file sharing I was about ready to throw my box out the window (ok, maybe not that far), but I was pissed. Is there a way to add a bookmark in the xml file like you can for SMB shares or anything so I can have a little shortcut for it? I suppose I could look at the xml file myself, but I'm at work right now, so I can't really look up on that. Thanks man, I'll try and find it via google, and I'll post a link as well on here if I find it. Thanks again. _________________ XBOX v1.6c

I am sure you can, just copy and paste existing book marks as a template (I was having trouble getting my frequently used above the drive selection, so I tagged them with a *. )
Ex.
*Movies
*Tv Shows
and they are the first two selectoins, so now no one has to complain to go searching for them. _________________ XBOX v1.6

just while we are on the topic of XBMC etc..
I am looking into writing scripts to display content from XBOXHQ directly in XBOX MEDIA CENTER using python scripts..
I successfully tested the other day and grabbed some cheats from the site and displayed on the xbox with a skin.. Its a cool idea i thought.
Anyway, thats my 2 cents..
btw.. I have no probs with streaming no matter what program i use..

forahobby,
I already noticed that in the latest AID, the Xbox-HQ news headlines will display across the bottom of XBMC, which I thought was totally awesome! But main content would be even better. Keep us updated! _________________ XBOX v1.6c
