This is my first post here and I'm not sure this is the right spot for this post, but since I didn't find a better spot I#ll post it here (feel free to move it if needed)
My question is: I've heard that modding your XBox removes the region restriction, thus allowing you to play NTSC as well as PAL games. Now I've also heard that there are patches for games to run a NTSC game on a PAL XBox... Can anybody clear this up for me? Will NTSC games run on my PAL Xbox? Do I need patches for all these games?

if you choose unleash x dashboard as your primary dash, you'll go to System>Settings> all the way down to Display, and look at the bottom for multi-region mode.
you'll find stuff like
Auto-Switch
Multi-region code
Force PAL 60
now, if your runnig a PAL xbox, you'll do this.
Auto-Switch=yes
Mulit-Region code=NTSC-M (USA), or NTSC-J (Japan)
Force PAL 60=No
but if your in a NTSC xbox and want to play PAL games, it's gonna be like this.
Auto-Switch=yes
Multi-region code=PAL
Force PAL 60=YES(only choose yes if your tv doesn't support PAL display.
also if your using a evox m8+ bios, or any of the X2 or X3, i think they do this for you, i'm not sure. then again there's also a program called "Enigma PAL swticher" <<or something, good luck

i use the evox dashboard and i can play NTSC and PAL games without changing any settings or anything, i think it does it all for you _________________ <b><u>Xbox v1.6</b></u>

wow, didn't know that, i've only used evox for the first time i modded my xbox, but after i saw that unleash x had many features like video ui, i fell in love with it.
but if evox does this all on it's own, then i guess that's an easy task.
Offtopic: *Today i learned how xboxhd works, to the max, and wonders...... how far can you go to have good system without a modchip?*

another xbox app too look into is called ENIGMAH VIDEO SELECTOR PAL/NTSC.. I used to use it all the time until unleashx came out with those options..
We have it here in our downloads section somewhere im sure.

As far as you can take it without screwing up the softmod.
The only real difference is the convinience of the chip allows you TO do everything without having to go to Xboxhdm create a new HDD, yada yada yada.
WIth a chip, pop in a blank hdd, then the AID disc ( I use my X3 for HDD preps) and then pop it in unlocked.
With a softmod, you need to make sure its locked before putting it in and other bullshit.
The same results are possible, but the paths are different...
Chipped= Is like a nice stroll on the beach
Softmod=Working your way through the dense jungle of the amazon.
Of course, pirrup WILL disagree. He is a bastard like that. hahah jk
i don't have a modchip and can pop a new hdd and AID in and format/prepare it
anyways just to mention i think Avlaunch switches to the correct region automatically aswell
