Hey everyone. New to the board. I got a 1.6 Xbox from a pawnshop for my wife and softmodded it. All went well untill I tried to play my friend backup copy of Mortal Kombat: Deception. It would come up with the "This disk may be damage or dirty" and Ninja Gaiden wont even read. So we put them in his box wihch is hardmodded with Exucuter3 and booth boot with out a hitch. Is there like a list of games that wont run with a softmod becuase of "Piracy" issues? Chronicals of Riddick, Monopoly Party and Area 51 work fine...but I want my MK6 >_< any help would be apreciated. _________________ The revolution is here, choose your destiny

it could be that your box doesn't recognize the media. ie a lot of boxes can't recognize cd-r, dvd+, and some cd-rw. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

I was thinking that at first but all of his backup games are on the same brand of media and those are the only 2 that wont work. _________________ The revolution is here, choose your destiny

there is no list of compatible games, all games are able to be backed up and played. its either media, bios or dashboard related. in your case it looks to be bios or dashboard since you can play other games on the same media. i'd try to load a game using a different dashboard first.

I'd say that you've done something wrong along the line with making these backup games, as I use a softmod all the time and have never had a problem with any game.

Ah
Interesting issue - I have now burnt 3 backup games all almost worked well until the third one stopped only a few minutes into the game(this disk is damaged or dirty). After rebooting and inserting the other two nothing at all happened and yet all originals played fine.
The next morning the two backups worked well again until I inserted the third, and again I faced the same above issues.
I reburnt the third backup and played for quite some time until it came up ounce again this disk is damaged or dirty.
The first two backups where only 800mb and 980mb and the third was 3gb.
My thoughts is that the ISO is a bad burn as the third disk played better the second time around. My xbox will only play DVD +R as it comes up as unrecognised media with anything else.
At this point I'm looking at upgrading my burner as I had the same issues trying to burn the AID2 ISO. It only worked on a mates PC. _________________ xbox v1.2

Another thing to try is a slow writing speed, like 2x for example. I currently use a Pioneer 109 DVD burner with Princo DVD-R's, never had any issues (apart from my own errors).

Forgot to mention have tried the lowest of burning speeds and different media, the verbatim seem to give a better result than the tdk.
Burning with nero on a lite-on dvd as dvd decrypter fails everytime.
Could even be my 1ghz PC
I have maybe these options.
1-some more different media
2- A new burner
3-A new pc
4-maybe an updated dash might help?

hi,
since you are having issues i would install a basic dashboard like EVOX DASHBOARD and the DVD2XBOX application using AID2..
Then you could copy a smaller original game from the XBOX DVDROM to the XBOX HDD and test playing it..
If it works fine then more then likely it will be a media problem you are having.. Just buy some cheap brands of DVD-R.. I always found dvd-r to be the best for any xbox..
Brands i suggest are:
- Shintaro
- Verbatim
- Maxell
But just remember each xbox dvdrom drive likes different brands.

Thanks for the replys. I think it might be the DVD drive in my Xbox is just picky about scratched games. VERRY PICKY. I got the Kollectors Edtion of MK6 and Soul Calibour II today so ya, might as well get my own. SCII was mainly for my wife and MK6..MINE..I just need to ger MK5..or Deadly Allience...and I will have EVERY MK game (Not including the sub games Mythologies and Special forces) yes I know I am a nut lol.
