My wife wants to use the MS DVD remote instead of the game controller for XBMC. The DVD remote no longer seems to respond.
Is this because of the use of the shadowc in SID?
Is there any way I can get the DVD remote working again?

I was running SID 4 and 4.5 until I got my Xecuter 2.6CE. Never had a problem with the Dongle. Try it in a different port. Or try reinstalling your softmod. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

I have two DVD remotes, one "real" M$, the other a clone.
I was trying to use the clone remote with the M$ dongle and vise versa.
Apparently the remotes will only talk to the correct dongle (M$ to M$, clone to clone)
When I did this... all was OK..
What a dunce
Tanx any who...

I have one dongle, two remotes. One is an official M$ POS. The other is an RCA Learning remote. Can be programed for 8 different devices, and is a damned breeze to program for the xbox. My stereo remote also messes up XBMC sometimes. The stereo is also an RCA. So what I can do is, turn up my stereo (which my Xbox is connected to) close the door in front of it I can use my stereo remote to Pause, advance and rewind, control the volume and do little navigation... No programming required.
The learning remote had the code for the xbox dongle in the Manual. Below you'll find a picture of the phone. Sorry for the poor quality, it's only my camera phone takin the pic . I got it at wal-mart for 10 bucks. Greatest buy in a while. Programmed my Xbox, my stereo, my Daewoo TV and my cable box and satelite reciever to this beast and they all work perfectly.
If you're an XBMC junkie like me, activate "Show Remote Codes" in your XML. EACH BUTTON has a code that you can program XBMC to recognize. My remote is PIMPED! And yes, all this works with the STANDARD M$ dongle.
But if you're not using XBMC, the standard functions of the remote work. The arrows, menu, the whole nine, so it runs with the MS Dash (what it was intentionally made to do).
Get the remote, it's a beast. Or go with the Khameleon like someone else reccomended, it's expensive, but it's worth it.
There's my 15 cents....
