Shark2th,
Not sure if this will help, but this is how I put the softmod onto my usb memory key since the action replay program would not recognize it.(after I formatted it to FATX):
I made the USB to xbox controller port adapter found here using a cheap controller extension cable($3) and a PC USB extension cable I had lying around.(Good to have anyways since it's handy to be able to connect usb devices to your Xbox)
Then I connected the memory key to a friend's modded xbox and FTP'd the gamesave to the USB drive partition.(Can't remeber what drive letter, but just look at before and after you plug in the memory key and you'll figure it out.)
You could also burn the gamesave to a rewritable disc and copy the file over to the usb key using a modded box.
After that it was smooth sailing.
Hope this helps,
Jon

Thank you for the info jonadagi2!
All good things get kicked aside and I haven't been able to continue since my last post. Gonna lock the doors and try the softmod this weekend.
I'll keep your post in mind.

Looks like using my previously Xenium modded Xbox will do the trick.
Formatted the usb via the M$ dash, set up FlashFXP to send the saves over to the Xenium box. I'll move the saves over to the usb, install the usb via the usb connector to the M$ box then initiate using SID 4. I'll be using my Mech Warrior to accomplish this task.
I think I'm ready for launch Houston. Let's hope this isn't a remake of Apollo 13 with an Xbox. Laughing

Houston, I'm venting something..... (as everyone runs from the room.... ewwwwww)

Good Luck Shark2th!
Who knows, if everything goes well maybe you'll be converted to a "pro-softmodder" and your days of chipping boxes will go the way of the Dodo! Razz

Oh, holy hell, Shark, are you seriusly softmodding? Now I'm really scared, that's like me trying to run a chip 24/7. Wow... My hat's off to you. And as far as that pain in the @$$ mem key, the modded xbox is your way to go. Damned 1.6. Good luck buddy...

hmmmm......they have a Lexar JumpDrive Secure 128 MB listed as working usb media. I wonder how they got that to work? On my system Windows XP rushes in and installs it's drivers before action replay does.

That's the same tut I used...I did get a generic 64mb jump drive to work though.

Oh, on another note. I found a usb keypad with two usb ports on it. It's just like the keypad on the right side of the keyboard... I thought maybe it'd work for playing games and adding a mouse. Works in Linux and the mouse attached to it works in Linux, but Halo 2 wont let me set it up... I need to try some other games with it, I guess.

WOOT! I did it! Thanks to SID 4, and this thread ol' Shark2th is a softmod virgin no more!! (shut up AngelosDracul).
Oh man, that was so cool, I'm gonna do it again to another Xbox!
Shark2th, the softmodding fool!!(shut up Enigma)
Thank guys for the support. It was easier than I thought it would be. I'm amped up now.. woo hoo!!

Edit: Just softmodded a second Xbox. Ran out of Xboxes to play with darnit!

One thing I'm not sure about is that the XBMC on my Xenium runs our news at startup, somehow I've got to figure out how to get these other two to do that. But that's another project I guess.
