Alright I went around the error by installing the Softmod with the second option and that worked.

Now, I was trying to set up my X-Box for Live and I got the Error 13 and 14. Also, my X-Box won't read the AID discs. Any help?

I figured out why I have no dashboard despite that I backed it up. Dprules advised me to move my back up folder to the X Drive to free up some space when I was ripping games. My best guess is when I clicked restore MS back up, it was not where it normally looks. How can I fix this?

Ok, so to update. My friend's X-Box is good to go and FTPing fine.

Mine however will not work due to the fact that I was instructed to move the Backup off my E Drive to save space. Can I access it via an FTP or something? I just want to get back on my X-Box.

pirrup

A hotswap won't cost too much money, you may have to aquire a new HDD though. I'd suggest maybe looking into doing a softmod with a large HD if this is the case and you do have to replace the HDD.

Indeed, I remember when he was trying to tell ppl how to use SID 3 ans he missed out so many points and did things incorrectly.

By all means, we encourage ppl to help other ppl on this forum, but only if you know EXACTLY what you're doing.

To be fair to ThomasJoad1186, his Xbox should be replaced by dprules because he tells ppl to do stuff which is totally wrong (I guess he mustn't do a whole lot of reading and just experiments). But ofcourse if this sort of policy was enforced I think we'd all be having to send an xbox to someone throughout their time here.

The main thing is to not always go on one piece of information (especially from a non-senior member or non-admin from this site). Just a small tip so hopefully things like this doesn't happen again.

Alright I read the tutorial.

I have to take out my X-Box HDD and connect it to my PC? Also it says have a PC without a HD what does that mean?

This is so frustrating. I followed what he said because I assume when someone approaches you and says they can help, they know what they are talking about.

Basically you're going to have a to prepare a CD to boot your PC, in order to prepare the Xbox HDD. When you install the XBox HDD to your PC you have to put it on the Primary Master channel (this is where you HDD for Windows usually is).

Sorry I haven't done one of these personally so I can only tell you what I know...

I could slaughter this guy. It seems I am better off getting a modchip now.

I HATE DPRULES.

In all honesty a modchip is the best way to go, even though I did write softmod software I personally use a modchip It's nothing special either, just an old AppleX 5 which lets me boot my Xbox with my modchip either on or off (hence why I could test the softmod etc).

Something like a DuoX or Alladin would be fine for you if the main purpose of the chip would be to play backed up games, and run unsigned xbox code (like xbox apps, dashboards etc).

I apologise on behalf of the team here for problems you've had, but hopefully at the end of the day this can make you a little wiser aswell (it's all new knowlegde to learn now hehe).

Hopefully everything can sort itself out for you, and you can enjoy the benefits of a properly modded Xbox.

Regards,

Ok, I have found a PC that we stopped using because it has terrible internet connection. Can pirrup or DJB IM me on AIM, MSN, or even e-mail and walk me through this? I still need to acquire the Torx 10 and 20 screwdrivers but I can get that tomorrow.

Please I need one-on-one help that a written tutorial can't provide.

I must add that my games load up fine, so push comes to shove I can just play games.

Alright, I got to DPRULES and he managed to get me a work around.

Basically, I am good to go.

Thanks though for the help. It's pretty scary when you can't fix something like that.

Unfortunately I can't do that coz I've never done this, so I wouldn't be the best teacher on it. Hopefully Pirrup sees this, and if he has some spare time can help you out.

Could you please explain what he told you to do in order to fix this problem?

My best guess is that, he asked you to reattempt the softmodding process from scratch, therefore re-enabling the softmod, and regaining ftp access to your box, not sure though. But that is what I would have done.

He told me to gain access to the Softmod menu and get to the file explorer. Then he snapped because I got angry. He also said not to waste my time on the forums. He said he shouldn't have helped me because of what I said.

Oh well. Thanks guys for the help.
