Hey people, this is my first post. I have the Xenium OS 2.0.1, and have been trying to get my Xbox to play backups for the past month, with no luck. I have read so many different tutorials, but I keep getting stuck at the same point. I put the X2 4981 bios on a cd-rw with a 100mb dummy file. I put it in the drive, and went to "add new item" then "flash". I saw the bios.bin file on the \D partition, so I clicked on it. Once I named the bank, it said it was "adding the item" or something of that nature.
IF the flash worked, I should be able to play backups now right, or do you HAVE TO have a dash installed? Backups are NOT working, and I cant even use the Slayers disk, or the Auto Installer deluxe disc I made, because the Xbox just boots to the MS dash everytime.
Does this sound like a disc media problem, or is something wrong with my chip? BTW, when I burned my bios and dummy file to a CD-RW, the Xbox read it, but when I use the SAME brand of CD-RW with the Slayers or AID iso on it, it wont recognize it.

By the sounds of it your chip isn't flash properly, because you don't need a dashboard to boot a backup.
I'd try putting the bios on a DVD-R if you can, see if that helps...

With the xenium ice, you have to boot up the xenium os and select the new bios to boot. You do this by first powering up the xbox using the eject button, than go to launch, and click your hacked bios. Now a flubber screen should load up but instead of saying microsoft at the bottom, it should say something like xenium or xecuter. Now you should be able to load your backed up games. But if you can't, it might also be your media as the drives are very picky about them. _________________ XBOX- V1.0

It actually sounds like you flashed your chip properly from the description. I would wonder if it's you backups that are giving you fits.
Also, jump up to X2 4983 or X2 5035 bios. They are newer obviously. How are you making your backups?

I think kdx80boy might be onto something here. When I push the power button, the light on the chip turns blue (thats the color I assigned to the bios), but all I get is the MS dash. When I turn my Xbox on with the eject button, I get the Xenium 2.0.1 setup screen. So I dont think my chip is flashed properly. Does the bios and dummy file have to be converted into an iso, then burned? I think I burned them onto a CD-RW using the drag and drop method through windows XP. Maybe thats the problem.
When I put the bios cd-rw in, and went to "add new item", then "flash", the D:\ drive DID show up, and I DID see the bios.bin file there. When i clicked on it to flash it, (after I named it in the bank) it only took 2 or 3 seconds, then listed it in the bank. When the chip is actually being flashed, Doesnt it take longer than that?

Hey Modgod. I have a copy of a backup that my friend has, and he has the same crappy Thomson drive in his xbox, that I have in mine (Version 1.0). He tested it in his Xbox before he gave it to me, and it worked fine. It just wont work in mine, but I am thinking my chip isnt flashed right.

I GOT IT!!! The bios wasnt properly flashed. I burned the bios using a new method, and the bios FINALLY flashed properly. I thought the MS dash came up again, but on the very bottom, It said Xecuter, instead of Microsoft. I am playing that backup right now.
YAAAAAY Thanks everybody for your help.
