ok, here it goes: i recently got an xbox for free because it got a dead power supply, its an 1.0 box, ok so i got the video and power cables elsewhere, and i see the powercable is a little too thin (or is it just me?), well since i'm in mexico theres no power cord recall over here, so i was wondering... could i use a power cord from a boombox or other appliance that fits, or should i use that thin power cord i got (it is the genuine one from an xbox, dunno what version)

You should be fine with that power cord, as long as mexico is still on 110 AC voltage....also, I use one still to this day one of my xbox setups...
The cord recall was a band aid to a larger problem, bad power supplies and poorly made ones..
Just check the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) of the Power supply, and double check the solder joints on the bottom, which link up with the female cord receptacle. So in other words, the receiving end for the cord, check its solder connections to make sure they are perfect, they should look like 2 cones of sshiny silver solder. _________________ XBOX v1.6

the slim one should work fine unless its falling out. if thats the case wrap 1 layer of electrical tape around the end so it fits tight.
the boom box powercord will also work fine, ive done that before. _________________ .
